I believe that children absorb everything around them and in turn repeat behaviors and language that they see and learn in their adulthood. I think it’s so important to provide extra care, love, patience and guidance in order to show children how to cope with their big emotions that they don’t fully understand yet. Children are our future and the way in which they are brought up as well as their experiences with others, plays a big role in the way that the world and society will work in the future.

My degree encompassed what is formally known as abnormal psychology and special needs children, and have worked with children that have autism and ADHD.
The most important part about being a nanny...
During my Au pair year, I lived in, and the little girl that I cared for had a nightmare, she came and got into bed with me. It was such a rewarding moment to know that she has full trust and comfort in me as she sought me out in a time of distress.
Another moment that enhanced the richness of my job is when the little boy that I nannied for in South Africa, came to me to discuss race as he was facing bullying at school. Thereafter he was able to navigate his potential trials at school through the lessons he learnt via discussions that we shared and learning different coping mechanisms to help him get through it.
