A little bit about me

My name is Hannah, and I am new to Utah! Back in Vermont, I was a pre school teacher, specializing in ages 1-2. I love to sing, dance, bake, and do just about anything outside. I can speak French, but I also have excellent math skills. Some of my other hobbies include reading, hiking, puzzles and cooking. I have been working with children since I was 12 years old. I started by babysitting, and I got my certification for that. As I got older, I moved into nannying for families until I began my work as a teacher. I have loved working with kiddos every step of the way, and I find that they keep my heart happy and my life feeling fulfilled. I appreciate that in addition to being able to play a role in their learning, they play a role in mine as well. Kids remind me everyday that life can be simple and sweet and full of love without fear. They remind me that we make mistakes but we don't allow them to stop us. They remind me that unconditional kindness makes the world even a bit better.

Baking, dance parties, exploring music in and out of nature, biking, swimming, reading, arts and crafts, playing with age and developmentally appropriate toys, sensory time, going on walks and singing songs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is the enthusiasm for the job. Kiddos are great at picking up on energy and emotions, it's important to be enthusiastic about spending time with them. Furthermore, kids typically have high energy and get excited about lots of things. To build a better connection and trusting relationship with them, it's important to be excited with and for them!

My experience with special needs children...

I briefly worked with a toddler with autism. However, it was less of a one on one position and more of an inclusive classroom position where I would be aiding the entire classroom. I only worked one on one with the child when they directly needed support.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments while being a nanny is when one of my kids told me their butt was "too big" to fit on the toddler toilet seat! My other favorite moment is when one of my preschoolers told me I was their best friend. I was so happy and honored to have been able to foster such a safe and comforting relationship for them. I find creating safe, healthy and trusting relationships with kids to be one of the most important duties when working with them, and to see this come through in the way it did could not have made me feel more proud and happy!
