More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I cared for a 4-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy as a nanny. With the 4-year-old, I focused on imaginative play, early learning activities, and routines like nap time, potty training, and meals. With the 9-year-old, I helped with homework, encouraged reading, and supported him through emotional ups and downs, especially during tough moments. I also handled school pickups, playdates, and came up with creative indoor and outdoor activities to keep both kids engaged and happy. These experiences taught me how to balance nurturing and structure, and how to adapt to each child’s individual needs.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing activities that let kids be creative and curious. Whether it’s painting, building pillow forts, dancing around to music, or making up silly stories together, those are the moments I treasure. I also really enjoy being outside with them, whether it’s a walk to find ‘treasures,’ trips to the park, chalk art on the sidewalk, or just lying in the grass spotting shapes in the clouds. I try to make even the simplest things feel like an adventure, because those little memories are the ones that stick.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing about being a nanny to me is creating a special bond with each child and becoming someone that your child can feel safe and happy around. I love watching them grow, learn, and turn into the best version of themselves!
My experience with special needs children...
I cared for a 9-year-old boy with Asperger’s syndrome who could become aggressive or violent at times. I learned how to safely de-escalate situations, use calming strategies to help avoid meltdowns, and administer his medication as needed. I also became trained in safely restraining him when necessary to keep him and others safe. It was a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience that taught me so much about patience, empathy, and trust.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was with the little girl I used to watch. I’d always gently tickle the bottoms of her feet to wake her up from naps, and it became our little routine. One afternoon, we were lying in the grass together, just enjoying the sunshine, and she suddenly tickled my feet and giggled. It was such a simple moment, but it meant everything. It reminded me how much love and connection come from the little things.
