Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy playing games that require a lot of movement, thinking, and communication. Four corners, Jenga, Legos, Tag, Simon Says, & Sherades are some of my favorite. These games help develop the basic motor skills that are present in children. I am also a big advocate for art. I do art at least once a day. This might be small but it has a huge impact on the creativity and imagination of a child.
When it comes to outdoor activities, I like to have at least 45min-1hr of sunlight with them. The sun is a big impactor on mood and creativity which is why it is vital for children to have daily outside time.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about working with children is the child. At times we are with them longer than their parents so we have to make sure that they are getting the same care from us as they would get from their parents. We have to embrace all that comes with them and support them with whatever they need. Its children first and we are here for them.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience taking care of 2 children with special needs.
One was nonverbal and the other was verbal.
When it came to the child that was verbal a lot of people considered him a "problem" because he was rambunctious. He had a lot of energy and refused to sit still. Instead of yelling or getting frustrated with him as my colleagues did I just altered all of my lesson plans for him to be more active and when it was time to cool down we had a lesson plan for that as well and then he was good to go.
When it came to the nonverbal child he was extremely shy and quiet. He didn't like loud noise and he didn't like to be touched. Having him open up to me was a little bit more difficult however I managed to make it work. He loved puppets so I decided to talk with him through puppets and It was a Great Choice! He started to smile more and he became more bubbly as each day passed.
He even said little words such as 'funny' and 'stupid' which made me smile. :)

The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment from working with children was when they surprised me with a HUGE Play-Dough cake on our last day of Summer Camp. It obviously wasn't edible however they said they wanted to give me a present for making it the "Best Summer Ever". It was extremely adorable and I even shed a tear or 2.
