A little bit about me

Hi there! I'm Kaylee, and I've been babysitting since I was 13 years old! I started out by taking care of my own little siblings, who range in age from just 3 months to 10 years old—so I'm comfortable with everything from changing diapers to planning fun activities for older kids. Along the way, I've also had the pleasure of babysitting for other families, and I love getting to know each child's unique personality.

I'm all about creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment, whether it’s playing games, helping with homework, or keeping the little ones entertained with crafts and stories. I understand how important it is to have someone you trust watching over your kids, and I'm here to provide just that.

I am First Aid and CPR trained, so you can have peace of mind knowing that your little ones are in safe hands. I’m prepared for any emergencies that might arise and always prioritize safety while keeping things fun and enjoyable!

Looking forward to meeting your family! 😊

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

As part of my senior project, I had the rewarding experience of working as an educational assistant, caring for children with special needs. Over the course of 30+ hours, I gained valuable insight into how to support their unique needs and provide personalized care. This experience taught me patience, adaptability, and the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive environment for every child.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love engaging with kids of all ages and making sure they’re having a great time! For younger children, I enjoy reading stories, doing arts and crafts, and playing fun, educational games that keep their little minds active. With toddlers, I focus on hands-on activities like building blocks, singing songs, and interactive play to help with development. For older kids, I like to get creative with DIY projects, board games, outdoor play, and even helping with homework when needed. Whether it’s imaginative play or structured activities, I always aim to create a fun and safe environment tailored to their interests!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where children can thrive. It’s about building trust not only with the kids, but also with their parents, knowing that they feel confident leaving their children in your care. Being a nanny goes beyond simply watching over kids—it’s about helping them grow, learn, and feel supported in their development, all while making sure they feel valued and understood. Ultimately, it’s the connection and bond you build that makes a lasting impact on a child’s life.

My experience with special needs children...

During my time caring for children with special needs, I worked with nonverbal kids and those who were completely dependent on adults for daily care. I also had the opportunity to support children with brain injuries, developmental delays, and learning disabilities. This experience taught me the importance of understanding each child’s unique needs and abilities, and approaching their care with patience, compassion, and respect. I focused on creating a supportive and nurturing environment, where every child felt seen, valued, and understood, no matter their challenges.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite memories from working with a special needs child was during PE, when a little boy I was helping wanted to stay by my side the whole time. We played a game together, and he kept coming back to me, giving me the biggest hugs, which truly warmed my heart. He would always ask to play games and work on his schoolwork with me, and seeing his excitement and trust made every moment special. It was these small, genuine connections that always made my day and reminded me of the joy in building relationships with the kids I worked with.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Astoria, OR: Kimberley D.

Hi! I’m a tenured Montessori teacher looking for some part-time work to support living affordability. Hoping to find a family I can work for with six months to a year, if not longer :) My schedule is flexible, I have decades of nannying experience under my belt, a reliable 2014 Subaru, car seat, and background check handy. This work is very natural for me, and a couple of my favorite things to do with children are collaborative storytelling, and nature exploration. While often typical daily experiences for kids, I find these things go hand-in-hand at many stages of development, and keep us connected to ourselves, history, and the land. I’d love to meet you, reach out if it seems like a good fit ❤️
