A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Marie! I've just finished my degree at Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied history. I've spent the last few years working with kids in schools and libraries, and I believe those have been the years I've enjoyed most.

My main experience is from a full school year as a Teacher's Assistant working with pre-K to elementary-age students. In that role I supervised homework and academic activities, planned and ran recreational and club programs, helped with dismissal and pick-up, and communicated with parents every day about how things went. I also spent several years working in public libraries, including the New York Public Library, where I helped children and families find books and materials, answered a lot of questions, and got very good at keeping a busy space calm and organized.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Once, while helping with homework, a 6 y/o student stopped to ask me if I considered myself to be "Still a kid, or a grown-up?". We had a lengthy conversation about his fear of growing up, showing me kid's are a lot smarter than most give them credit for.
