A little bit about me

I have lived in New York City for nearly ten years and have seven years of experience working with children in grades K–8 as a teacher and Special Education Coordinator. I care deeply about the children I work with and always go above and beyond to support their academic, emotional, and behavioral needs. I also believe in strong communication with parents and caregivers so everyone is on the same page about how to help a child grow and feel supported. I love building warm, positive relationships with kids and creating a safe and structured environment where they can feel confident, curious, and happy. I am excited to bring that same care and attention to working with a family as a nanny.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have seven years of experience working with children as both a classroom teacher and a Special Education Coordinator. In these roles, I have supported children with a wide range of needs, including academic support, behavior development, and multilingual learning. My work has focused on helping children build confidence, stay organized, and develop strong learning habits while creating a supportive and structured environment where they can grow.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy spending time with children and building positive relationships with them. Helping kids grow academically, behaviorally, and socially is what I have dedicated my lief to. I also enjoy doing fun activities together, such as going to the park or seeing a movie.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important parts of being a nanny are being consistent, patient, and warm with children. It is also important to respect the family’s values and work closely with parents so everyone is aligned on how to support the child. My goal is to help create a stable, supportive environment where children can grow and families feel supported.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked as a special education teacher for six years and a Special Education Coordinator for one year. Through this experience, I have developed a strong understanding of how to support children with special needs and help them succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially. I am patient, attentive, and committed to making sure each child receives the support they need to grow and feel confident.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I do not have one favorite nanny moment yet, but one of my favorite moments working with children was watching a student with autism write a full paragraph on his own using the supports and skills I had taught him. Seeing his confidence grow and realizing he could do it independently was very rewarding. Moments like that remind me why I enjoy working with children and helping them reach goals they once thought were difficult.

Shena G. - Seeking Work in New York

Part-Time Nanny Available in New York, NY: Shena G.

Few things bring me greater joy than playing with and caring for little ones. I’ve worked with children of all ages, from 2 months to 11 years. My charges’ health and well being are my priority. I’m familiar with the unique needs of infants, and also able to provide the sort of enriching activities which older children crave. In a city which is constantly whirring with noise and business, I provide my charges with calmness, consistency, and the opportunity to stop and smell the roses (literally and figuratively). Having grown up here, it’s always fun to take my charges to some of my old childhood haunts. I’ve had a warm and fruitful relationship with each of the families for whom I’ve worked, and am grateful for every one of them.
