A little bit about me

I’m from California and I’ve worked with children for 11 yrs.

In my youth I worked as a camp counselor. I planned curriculum, led activities, and supervised. I worked as an educator for 7 years, caring for children aged 4 mnths to 11 yrs. I led circle time, taught letters and sounds, read stories, did tummy time, introduced solids, helped with meals, potty trained and supervised.

I have 9 ECE units.

Later I worked as a nanny/In-home educator, facilitating/supervising Montessori/play-based activities, helping with homework and online learning during COVID, and even teaching English to a child of 2 who only spoke Chinese!

I worked as a full time nanny for a baby of 6 months and nanny now for a baby who I’ve cared for since 8 months . I helped with tummy time, nap, solids, crawling, and walking. I also created age appropriate activities in order to develop fine motor, gross motor skills, and so on.

In Australia I cared for a 4 month old, Nannied and worked at a preschool!

I worked as a preschool assistant for almost seven years where I taught children and worked with babies!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy reading to children, giving hugs and love, and creating age appropriate activities that allow for exploration, growth and development, and creativity! I enjoy creating an environment completely catered to the children in my care with sensory tables, tents, shelves and all manner of things. I also facilitate both the Montessori and Reggio method! It inspires me seeing children grow and learn and I find joy watching as their interests grow and supporting those interests with toys and activities catered to their growing interests!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Loving and caring for the child in your care. It is not a passive job but an engaging one that involves dedication and a desire to see the child in your care thrive. It is about supporting them and their needs as they grow and helping families surround their child with people in their lives that are interested in them and the people they become. As well as working in tandem with parents and using knowledge to help children thrive and parents when questions arise.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments are always the goodbye hugs I get at the end of the day, and the pride and happiness I feel for a child I’ve helped to learn something new! One of my favorites was when the child I care for was one and a half and she finally grasped big and small and we pointed out all the big and small things we saw on our daily walks and in the home!
