A little bit about me

Hi! Nice to e-meet you, I’m Shayla. I started babysitting at 13, watching my cousins and teachers' children. My first “real job” was working in an after school care program at an elementary school for two years in high school. After graduating high school, I worked for a summer as an overnight camp counselor at a summer camp in Wisconsin, I was also a lifeguard! After that I worked a few different part time nanny jobs to pay tuition. I worked with a family of 5 (ages 5,3,and newborn) and a family of 4 (ages 3 and infant).Then when the pandemic hit, I committed to 1700+ hours of service through AmeriCorps, where I worked in a Kindergarten classroom with students who were homeless. After that, I spent a summer working as a direct support professional at a group home for children with autism who were wards of the state. While finishing my bachelor’s degree, I also worked full time as a nanny for a family of 4 in Manhattan (ages 2 and newborn).
