My father was the Executive Director of the Mayor’s Youth Empowerment Program (MYEP) in Iowa City, a nonprofit that supports children and adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. Growing up around this work gave me a deep respect and understanding of individuals with special needs from an early age. Because of that experience, I am more than open to supporting any child in my care, and I approach each situation with patience, compassion, and a genuine willingness to adapt to whatever is needed.

As a mother’s helper, I also babysat their older son on weekends. Since the family lived on a large piece of land, he especially enjoyed feeding the chickens and exploring outdoors, which made our time together both fun and engaging.
