A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Taylor and I have been working with (and loving!) children for the past 10 years. I have been fortunate enough to work with families as a nanny in Portland, OR and in New York City. For the past 3 years my focus has been working as a First Grade teacher in Williamsburg. As I am grateful for the skills added to my tool belt from teaching, I am looking to build a personal and long term relationship with a family. I love to quilt and craft, caring for my plants and dachshund, and cooking and baking for my family. (My hope is to do some of these activities with your kiddos!) Children never cease to amaze me with their creativity, growth, and curiosity. I look forward to sharing my skills and helping out an amazing family!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been able to work with kids in a school setting as a First Grade teacher for the past 3 years. Within this position, I worked on a team of 5 to create lesson plans, engage students throughout the day with academics and social activities, and develop meaningful relationships with students and parents alike.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

So many things! I love working on crafts from colorings and collage to legos and building fairy houses in the park. Also, it's fun to have kids participate in preparing snacks and meals (and trying out new recipes!) I believe it's also important to get outside and explore the world around us! As things are different now, I still would love to travel to the park/playground or even taking daily walks to get out of the house.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is helping to support a family, meaning the parents and children. I like to be a support system to both!

My experience with special needs children...

I have several different experiences with special needs children. My cousin has Down syndrome, so I was able to learn early in my life about people with special needs. Additionally, I have been able to work with children in a school setting that range from reading disabilities to being on the Autism spectrum.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments has to be when I first became a nanny in 2014. I was with a new family with twin 4 year old boys and a 6 year old boy. I picked them up from school and we all went to get ice cream. On the way home I put all the windows down and we sang their favorite song. It was such a fun and pure moment. Thinking about it just makes me smile!
