A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Tori and I am 20 years old. I love working with newborns and children, watching them blossom into wonderful souls. I have experience with mentally and physically disabled children and kids of various ages, as I was a DSP for a year and a half. I'm passionate about proper development, empathy and support for children's needs, and I love to learn about each individual person I work with. I studied AP psychology while in high school, learning about adolescents and their stages of life. I am pursuing a phlebotomy certification on my own time. Working as a Direct Support Professional, I cared for everyone from newborns to teenagers to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. I have an Arizona fingerprint clearance card, CPR, and first aid. If you have any questions at all, dont be afraid to reach out.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a Direct Support Professional, specializing in adolescents with developmental, intellectual and mental disability. The age range was based on the family of which I worked for, most of my experience is when ages 2-12, but I have had newborn experience and slight teenager experience. It was in home, and I would help with housework, caring for physical needs such as diaper changes, potty training, proper nutrition, playtime and enrichment, etc.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely LOVE enriching children's lives with challenging playtime. Physical stimulation mixed with mental stimulation is my favorite kind to watch a child's brain blossom. Taking them outside to play with plants, running around and playing with the earth creates a physical, active sensory experience while also challenging their mental. Playing blocks, dolls, legos, kinetic sand etc. I love it all! I like to challenge kiddos to step away from electronics, making them the one who is interested in other forms of play and distraction.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me personally, being a nanny makes me feel like I'm doing something meaningful. Im at the least making someone's life better or easier. I want mothers and fathers to be able to focus on themselves, while someone they trust cares for their child when they need a break or assistance. I want families to feel comfortable asking for help, and to find someone they truly believe can be a good influence, a healthy, kind, safe person for their child to be around. It's meaningful, wholesome and true connection.

My experience with special needs children...

I have the MOST experience with children with developmental disabilities, which is not to say I do not have experience in children who do not experience such disorders. Being a DSP, the families and children I worked with were all heavily individualized and I saw many different cases of all sort of kiddos at different stages in life. Ive supported kiddos who are paralyzed, have cerebral palsy, spinal injuries, intellectual disabilities, autism, down syndrome, and much more!

The most important part about being a nanny...

A very fond memory I had was with a past patient of mine as a DSP, she was a 12 year old girl, developmentally disabled, nonverbal, and low mobility. She is such a smart, sweet, affectionate girl. She was having quite a hard day. She was resistant about taking her medication, she didn't want to play, eat, communicate and was just crying for two hours, using her tablet to talk, saying she was sad repeatedly. I just started my shift and when I walked through the door, she latched onto my leg and just wouldn't let go for 15 minutes. She stopped crying shortly after and I was able to regulate and calm her nervous system, get her medication and get her to eat a little bit. We watched her favorite show while I clean up a bit, and I think back on it remembering how sweet it was, and how I felt important to her.

RandiLynn U. - Seeking Work in Prescott

Babysitter Available in Prescott, AZ: RandiLynn U.

I’m a 21yr old student at Embry-Riddle. I grew up around lots of younger cousins and have experience babysitting for family friends as well as church families throughout high school. I also worked at a pediatric chiropractic office focused on neurological regulation, where I gained experience working with children of different ages and needs.

Growing up with my aunt, who has spina bifida, and navigating dyslexia myself has made me very patient, understanding, and adaptable. I enjoy creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment for kids while being dependable and responsible. I’m happy to help with routines, playtime, and light household tasks as needed.
