Hello families!
I am a 35-year-old fellow mama, and I am looking for work as a regular part time or full time babysitter. I am also available for sporadic "date night" babysitting during weeknights and on weekends. I pick up my 5-year old from the school bus at around 4:15 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, so my general availability is until 4:00 pm; however, I am more than happy to take your child along, and bring my son back with me if further hours are needed! I I do not have a car at the moment, so all opportunities must be within reasonable walking, or public transportation, distance from the East End of Long Beach, NY (in the canals). I have experience with children of all ages, am a great and enthusiastic cook and proficient homework helper, and wouldn’t mind participating in some light housework. Most importantly I am mature, reliable and stable, caring, and genuinely easy to be with.
Thank you for your consideration!

Hello! My name is Katie, I’m 31 yrs old. I’ve been caring for children for 15+ years. In that time I’ve had 4 nanny jobs in a span of 10 years. I enjoy caring for children and I believe it is very rewarding teaching a child. Within my career I’ve been responsible for childcare (infant/newborn care to teenagers), cooking, housekeeping, laundry, driving kids as well as car pools, running errands, grocery shopping, helping with homework, projects, current events, studying for tests/quizzes and science fair projects. For activities, I take them out sledding, swimming (I am an advanced swimmer) jet skiing, bike riding, amusement parks, arts and crafts, sports, and practice with them for their teams, and any other exciting and educational things I can find in the area. My education includes a degree in Applied Sciences and Medical Assisting, with a certification in First Aid and CPR. I believe I am the next nanny for you! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

I am a 22-year-old recent college graduate with 10 years of experience caring for children. I started out at the age of 11 as a mother's helper, and then moved on to regularly babysitting children from birth through elementary school as I got older. I have prior nanny experience for 18-month-old twin boys as well as two different newborns and have been actively involved in raising my 3-year-old niece and nephew. Additionally, I have nanny experience (specifically infants) with two different families. I am punctual, responsible, friendly, and nurturing. I will keep your child happy and safe in addition to having fun! I am comfortable assuming light cooking and cleaning responsibilities as well as laundry responsibilities, and am always willing to be flexible and compromise. Please contact me if you are still seeking someone!

I was with my last family for 3 years. I cared for two children now currently 3 and a half and 5. My primary focus was their safety and well-being. I engaged in interactive and education play with them. I picked them up from school and took them to various activities such as taekwondo ymca, story time, the zoo, playdates, etc. I prepared and fed them meals and bathed them. I did housework such as laundry, dishes, cleaning up the play room, making their beds, etc.

Ruth M.

Ruth was with me for about 4 years. And honestly I don't know what I would of done without her. She went above and beyond for my family. She was always on time and available when I needed her last minute. Always did extra stuff for me without being asked. She was overall amazing! My family and I moved out of the state and we were sad to let her go. The next family will be lucky to have her! - Karen

How to Find a Babysitter in Long Beach, NY

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Long Beach, NY

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Long Beach can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Long Beach Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in New York?
  • Do you have a New York driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
