I have been babysitting throughout the metroplex for 10 years, since I was 12. I have experience with all ages (from newborns to teenagers) in a variety of settings (including families' homes, churches, a ballet studio, day camps, and schools). In high school I completed a child development course. Then, I worked after school in my school's nursery for teachers' kids where my passion for children grew immensely. Also, I volunteered for 5+ years as a teacher's assistant and rehearsal assistant at a ballet school where I helped teach preballet classes to 2-7 year-olds. I loved this experience! Next, I worked in a church nursery in Frisco. As the 2-year-old room leader, I supervised a room of up to 20 preschool age children. I was responsible for teaching curriculum, including crafts, music, and Bible stories. When needed, I traveled either to the infant room or to the 3 and 4 year-old rooms. Safety was a priority in the church, and I completed Safe Church Training. I currently teach sixth grade Sunday school. During summer 2012 I taught clay at a day camp. I worked with campers ages 3 to 11. I had the privilege of interacting with about 100 kids a day! Since January 2012 I have tutored middle school students for McKinney ISD. Working with small groups, my strategy is to use a unique inquiry approach that encourages higher order thinking skills and personal responsibility for students' own learning. I also have experience tutoring elementary age kids independently at their homes after school. Most recently, I have worked as a local family's summer and after school nanny. They have two elementary children, and I am sad to see them move after I have been a part of their lives for a year. I earned an Associate's degree in 2011 and am a senior at Texas A&M University- Commerce. I am CPR/ first aid certified and have a good driving record. Most importantly, I can't wait to meet your family!
