From a very young age I have always loved babies and being around them. Growing up as a child I was always very mature for my age and having a wonderful and loving mother encouraged my brother and I to always be independent while teaching us life's lesson, sound morals and values. Little did I know then that that would be the basis for my future. Having my mother take care of us until I was in first grade and then going into her own business has played a major role in impacting my life. I always knew I wanted to work with children but back then I had never heard of a nanny or even envisioned myself as one. I guess in my mind I always thought of teaching or nursing. I was just ten years old when I had my first real experience of caring for a newborn. My neighbor had her third child who was born on my birthday. I was so excited to have a baby next to us and the mother knew how mature I was and so she would let me feed the baby, walk around the house with him, put him to sleep and also include changing and washing cloth diapers. I was so thrilled and kept going to see him everyday. As the years passed by I would play with him and later I would start to help relatives with their children. In between my travels and jobs in childcare I would often ask my mother if she knew someone who had a baby to take care of. I strongly feel that my purpose and calling in life is to work with children, to teach and equip them with skills that will enable them to develop and progress into successful adults. I believe the first six years of a child's life is the most important time as we are setting the foundation for the rest of their life. This is the time we can shape and encourage them in a positive manner that will equip them for the rest of their lives. I see the importance of having a loving and nurturing individual around a child to influence them and I feel I can offer this especially in today's world where both parents have to work. Working with children is a two way learning process. As much as I am the adult and there to teach and equip them with life skills as adults we also learn from children. Over the years of working with children I have not only gained a wealth of information but also learned from children. I have learned to view life from a child's perspective with such innocence and no judgment, to be more patient and forgiving. Children are so precious and are our future and it is up to us to protect and nurture them.

I have been babysitting throughout the metroplex for 10 years, since I was 12. I have experience with all ages (from newborns to teenagers) in a variety of settings (including families' homes, churches, a ballet studio, day camps, and schools). In high school I completed a child development course. Then, I worked after school in my school's nursery for teachers' kids where my passion for children grew immensely. Also, I volunteered for 5+ years as a teacher's assistant and rehearsal assistant at a ballet school where I helped teach preballet classes to 2-7 year-olds. I loved this experience! Next, I worked in a church nursery in Frisco. As the 2-year-old room leader, I supervised a room of up to 20 preschool age children. I was responsible for teaching curriculum, including crafts, music, and Bible stories. When needed, I traveled either to the infant room or to the 3 and 4 year-old rooms. Safety was a priority in the church, and I completed Safe Church Training. I currently teach sixth grade Sunday school. During summer 2012 I taught clay at a day camp. I worked with campers ages 3 to 11. I had the privilege of interacting with about 100 kids a day! Since January 2012 I have tutored middle school students for McKinney ISD. Working with small groups, my strategy is to use a unique inquiry approach that encourages higher order thinking skills and personal responsibility for students' own learning. I also have experience tutoring elementary age kids independently at their homes after school. Most recently, I have worked as a local family's summer and after school nanny. They have two elementary children, and I am sad to see them move after I have been a part of their lives for a year. I earned an Associate's degree in 2011 and am a senior at Texas A&M University- Commerce. I am CPR/ first aid certified and have a good driving record. Most importantly, I can't wait to meet your family!

I have had the experience of taking care of children ages 3 months to 13 year old, including meal preparation, homework assistance, and house work. For my most current caregiver job, I arrived on Saturday night to nanny for 2 children ages 7 and 11. Their mother had to leave for work at 4 A.M. the next morning, and was going to return Tuesday night. During the mother’s absence I was their sole caregiver, prepared daily meals, and took care of the home. We had a puzzle day followed by a movie before dinner. We made Star Wars jello as well as baked and decorated cookies together. I made their lunches the night before they returned to school. The morning of their first day back to school I woke them up, made them breakfast, made sure they had their daily vitamins, made sure they brushed their teeth, and that they had everything they needed to have a good day at school. I drove them to school, picked them up, and made them a snack while they did their homework. I helped them with homework when needed, but made sure they completed it on their own, instead of giving them the answers. The last night we ate out, and I made sure their lunches were made for the next day so their mother wouldn't have to worry about it.

I have a baby niece that I absolutely adore and have been a nanny/baby sitter to on and off for the past 15 months of her life. Her daddy is in the army and her mommy is finishing school. I take care of her, feed her, bathe her, and enjoy playing with her. She is a very active child, but I enjoy the thrill of it. I have been the baby sitter of a few families close by with many children, I have fed them, played with them and even read with them. I enjoy teaching children and answering educated questions.
