A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Katie Herchenroeder, 22, and I recently graduated with my masters in journalism. When I'm not working, I spend my time writing, painting, and trying to find the best thrift deal! I've been babysitting since I was 15 years old, and have spent several summers working as a nanny within multi-child households. I have experience working with 3 children at one time, as my family fosters and hires me for weeks or months at a time. When working with children, I love to explore what their interests and passions are, encouraging them daily. My main hope would be to make your life easier, filling in wherever there is need. This is such a tumultuous time and creating fun moments is paramount. I'm incredibly open to the environment your family is interested in fostering. On a more technical note, I would also be more than happy to provide light housekeeping, meal prep, or other errand-like needs. Thank you so much for reading a little bit about me and I would love to chat more! :)

"Hazel is a wonderful, honest person who always looked out for my family. She was on time (usually early) and available even for long hours or special hours (like date night). She was attentive to my baby and put her safety foremost. She would never open the door for strangers unless I gave her a heads up someone was coming. Hazel is not like those nannies you see at the park on their phones while the baby is strapped in the stroller. When she took my baby to the park, it was to play at the park, not play on the phone. I always came home to a happy baby and tidy house with Hazel. It is only because my parents retired and took over childcare duties that I reluctantly let Hazel go. She would be a blessing to any family."

A little bit about me

I'm a well groomed 30 year old, who is ready and will to take on any task I'm given. I'm a lover of children as I have a 7 year old of my own. I do believe I have the patience and resilience to work with children in their physical and psychological development.

"Shamice filled in on very short notice (overnight) in January when our regular nanny was unable to discharge her duties due to family circumstances. She made herself available in no time, and was very flexible in terms of working hours, which proved a blessing as my husband and I had heavy workloads during this period. Shamice was very quick at transitioning into her new role, and very ably and independently took over the role of our regular nanny. The learning curve was short and she established quickly an excellent connection with all three kids (age 9, 7 and 2). Her good spirits and enthusiasm helped the kids through this period without any hiccups. She also proved she was able to work with limited oversight, taking appropriate initiative wherever it was needed. Shamice’s help was dearly appreciated during this period, and I would strongly recommend her for any childcare role."
