A little bit about us
My husband and I just welcomed our first baby in June 2020. We've been enjoying our sweet baby girl while I'm on maternity leave, however I am returning to work soon and am seeking a nanny for our daughter.
I'm a licensed mental health counselor, and my husband is an Army Veteran. I'll be working from home remotely while my husband cares for our daughter (he is a stay at home dad, since he is retired from the military), so we are seeking a nanny for approximately 8-10 hours per week. We may (on occasion) ask for additional hours if we want to have a date night/complete a project around our house without being interrupted, or if my husband needs an additional day off if he isn't feeling well (see additional details below).
My husband is disabled and has special needs, so having an extra caregiver for our baby is important to us (so he can have some reprieve when needed). It's also important to note that my husband has a service dog, so whoever we choose needs to be comfortable around dogs.
It is important to both of us that we find a nanny that we feel comfortable being in our home. Some additional qualities we are looking for include:
-a genuine love for children
-awareness of safety
-mindful of our privacy
-punctuality and good time management skills
-patience
-flexibility
-trustworthiness (the person we choose will be considered a member of our family)
-taking initiative (i.e. being proactive)
We look forward to getting to know you!

Preparing for a Nanny Interview for an Infant Care Position
Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is an infant nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:
- What is your specific experience with this age group?
- Are you Infant CPR/First Aid certified in Hoosick Falls, NY? Are you willing to be trained?
- How do you handle a crying baby?
- How often do you usually offer parents updates during the day?
- What do you feed an infant? At 0-3 months? 3-6 months? 6-9 months? 9-12 months?
- How do you set up the infant’s crib for a nap?
- What kind of activities will you plan to engage my baby?
You should be prepared with your references for past nanny jobs, and ideally, past infant jobs. Prior to the infant nanny interview, be sure to think about questions that you might have for the family. This is a great time to ask questions about the responsibilities and compensation for the infant nanny position. To make sure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities, we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
