I’ve got a 6 month old baby boy named Brooks. I work from home but need help while I work and am on calls. Looking for someone from 11-4 Monday-Thursday with some flexibility to stay later and work some Fridays when needed. I’ve got two dogs at home that are big friendly pups. Some help with laundry and cleaning while he is napping would be a huge help!

A little bit about us

We are a young professional couple (29 and 30 years old) that have a beautiful 10 week old baby boy (as of 6/8/2020) that has been cooped up alone with his parents during the pandemic. Both parents will need to return to work starting in late August, and the baby will need weekday care. We have applied to some day cares; however, COVID makes us wary of sending him to a place where he will be around so many kids.

We are looking for a nanny or nanny share program that is great with newborns, will be very engaging with the baby, and is reliable. We anticipate needing the nanny Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.

It would be preferable if the nanny has extensive experience with newborns and is trained in infant CPR. A car and driver's license is required in case the baby needs to be transported. We don't have any pets.

Both of us parents have variable schedules and would need a nanny who can be a little flexible with weekly timetables. We would like the nanny to come approximately 3-4 times per week for 3-5 hours each day. We would appreciate if the nanny can carry out light household work and walk our very calm and friendly dog (lab mix), and are open to nanny share.

How to Find an Infant Care Job in Austin, TX

If you’re looking for an infant nanny job, you’ve come to the right place! We can help you find an infant care job in your area. Start by telling families about yourself in your profile, and then chat with families to find the right fit. When you think you’ve found the right match, you can turn the discussion towards compensation and responsibilities.

What is an Infant Nanny in Austin, TX

An infant nanny is a nanny that specializes in caring for newborns. They are skilled in diapering and providing care for any rashes, swaddling, bathing, feeding, and burping. Some infant nannies further specialize in care for premature newborns or multiples.

Preparing for a Nanny Interview for an Infant Care Position

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is an infant nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:

  • What is your specific experience with this age group?
  • Are you Infant CPR/First Aid certified in Austin, TX? Are you willing to be trained?
  • How do you handle a crying baby?
  • How often do you usually offer parents updates during the day?
  • What do you feed an infant? At 0-3 months? 3-6 months? 6-9 months? 9-12 months?
  • How do you set up the infant’s crib for a nap?
  • What kind of activities will you plan to engage my baby?

You should be prepared with your references for past nanny jobs, and ideally, past infant jobs. Prior to the infant nanny interview, be sure to think about questions that you might have for the family. This is a great time to ask questions about the responsibilities and compensation for the infant nanny position. To make sure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities, we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
