A little bit about us

Hello! We’re looking for a nanny to help care for our 6-month-old baby boy, about 35 hours per week.

Start Date: ASAP/ before June 1st
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9AM – 4PM
Location: Southwest Redmond / Overlake
Pay: $28–$30 per hour DOE

About Us:
We’re a casual, down-to-earth household looking for someone who feels like a natural addition to our home. Our baby boy is a happy baby who loves to be held, played with and talked to. He has a sweet, easygoing temperament, and is excited to explore the world. Mom works from home two days a week (and is in Seattle the other three), and Dad works just a few minutes down the road.

Responsibilities:
• Infant care (feeding, naps, playtime)
• Following wake windows and supporting developmental milestones
• Contact naps
• Cleaning up after baby
• Infant laundry
• Light food prep when starting solids

Requirements:
• Prior infant experience (required)
• CPR & First Aid certified (required)
• Strong understanding of infant care and age-appropriate play
• Reliable transportation & valid driver’s license
• Strong references (must-have)
• Up to date on Tdap, MMR, COVID, and flu vaccines

A few things to know:
• We share a golden retriever with my parents, so she’s around occasionally. So we are needing someone comfortable with dogs
• We would like to make this a nanny share with another child of a similar age - but maybe not immediately

We’re hoping to find someone warm, dependable, patient, and who genuinely enjoys spending time with babies. If this sounds like you (or someone you know), we’d love to hear from you and learn more about your experience!

What is an Infant Nanny in Redmond, WA

An infant nanny is a nanny that specializes in caring for newborns. They are skilled in diapering and providing care for any rashes, swaddling, bathing, feeding, and burping. Some infant nannies further specialize in care for premature newborns or multiples.

Preparing for a Nanny Interview for an Infant Care Position

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is an infant nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:

  • What is your specific experience with this age group?
  • Are you Infant CPR/First Aid certified in Redmond, WA? Are you willing to be trained?
  • How do you handle a crying baby?
  • How often do you usually offer parents updates during the day?
  • What do you feed an infant? At 0-3 months? 3-6 months? 6-9 months? 9-12 months?
  • How do you set up the infant’s crib for a nap?
  • What kind of activities will you plan to engage my baby?

You should be prepared with your references for past nanny jobs, and ideally, past infant jobs. Prior to the infant nanny interview, be sure to think about questions that you might have for the family. This is a great time to ask questions about the responsibilities and compensation for the infant nanny position. To make sure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities, we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
