Mariana Mazzone
Norwalk$15/hr  |  10 yrs experience
My name is Mariana. I am currently 25, going on 26 years old (this July). I live in Norwalk. I have been a babysitter/nanny for about I believe 91/2 years now. (Many different families). I worked at a brand new play gym for kids in Norwalk called Tumble Jungle. While at work, myself and co-workers provided fun/age appropriate games and we would care for up to 35 children (ages 1+ and up) at a time. I've also cared for families (as a nanny) with up to three children, two children and also another family with 1 and those relationships lasted for years.(Each different years). As a babysitter I have watched plenty of kids and would watch multiple children at a time. I love doing any arts and crafts and games with the children. Music, singing, swimming, movies, baking and playing outdoors. In the past, I have also taken care of family animals. During all the running around for the kids many activities, I also had many household jobs as in laundry for the family, dishes, taking out garbage/recycling, getting the mail, animal care as already stated, grocery shopping, and of course helping the children with schoolwork/homework. I am comfortable bringing/picking up children from play dates, bringing children to any lessons they may have. Taking care of children is not an easy job, but I find happiness in it. I love all children and absolutely love all my jobs!

• Waiting on financial aid to begin phlebotomy classes. I'm not sure when I would begin those classes and I can always take them online. And as as I am flexible as of now, I am without my own transportation seeing as my car was stolen and totaled. Trying so hard to figure that out it's just a bit difficult for me right now.

• Thank you again for taking time out of your day to read my profile. Ask me anything I haven't covered.

I have been working with children since 1999, when I started volunteering at my local library at a young age, helping to oversee children’s programs and being constantly available for the children’s needs. Since then I have worked for a number of private families and also for schools. I also have a strong educational background. I am a state certified substitute teacher. In 2007/2008, I was a teaching assistant for both public and private schools. I enjoyed this position immensely as it allowed me to help make lesson plans, grade papers, lead class discussion, and generally interact with the children every day. In 2008/2009, I was a private tutor for a young boy who suffered from ADHD. This was an extremely rewarding time in my life, as I was able to see this boy come from barely being able to read, to above grade-level reading, writing, and spelling proficiency in less than one semester. I’ve also tutored other children (and even one 51-year-old man who was getting his Master’s Degree!) and worked with other children with special needs. Last summer, I was an assistant director for Camps, and was constantly responsible for the safety, care, fun, and productivity of around 65 girls ages 11-18 and around 20 staff members! This was such a wonderful experience for me, and I cherished being able to encourage all those around me to stretch themselves into becoming stronger, kinder, and more confident people. It was incredibly tiring work, but I am beyond thankful for it. I was a full-time nanny with one lovely family from June 2011-June 2013. They are amazing! I love them all, crazy schedules, late night hockey practices, menagerie of pets included. :) However, their children grew up/needs changed and so I had the privilege of nannying for a different family this past summer in NYC. We had such fun, and I worked on creating a personalized full summer-camp-type experience for their 9- and 7-year olds. We had long, full days of museum visits, swimming, sunny days at Coney Island, and rainy days of putting on plays, reading, and preparing for school. They were delightful (and I have a reference letter from their father on hand -- just ask for it!). Since then, I have taken a position where I was a full-time teacher with my classroom catering to 16-20 month olds. I loved working with this age range! Very different from my past few years' experience, but even more delightful than I imagined! Being with eight young toddlers for eight hours a day, five days a week, is a real test of patience, but I'm thrilled with what I've learned through this early childhood stage of development! And although I have (and still do!) delight each day in spending time with these young ones, I am considering moving back into the field of private nannying. There's just something about working one-on-one with a special family that I love. So, as I look toward finding the perfect fit, I am totally willing to be flexible and can work with any family on long days a few times a week, the occasional overnight, house- or pet-sitting while they are gone, dog walking, housekeeping/errand-running – just let me know what you need!
