A little bit about me

Hi! I'm Kambria, and I'm 16. I love kids, reading, writing, music, and going outside. I've been babysitting my cousins as early as 6 months, and most of them are now ages 10-13. The oldest (13) is autistic so I can't say I have a ton of experience in that area but I know a few things. I also have close friends with epilepsy, so I have a lot of knowledge in that area (Seizure training), & my youngest cousin has asthma so I can be of help with that too! (I have asthma myself) I’m currently still taking CPR training in school, but unfortunately I don’t have a First Aid certification. I can cook, don't mind cleaning, and I'm available everyday afterschool from 2:30-3:00 to 8:00-9:00! On weekends, anytime you need me. I can also help with homework. I don’t have my license yet but I can always have my mom drop me off or take an uber!

A little bit about me my name is A'shari Rogers and im 18 years old and currently going to school for pediatric nursing. I’ve always been great with children and have had a strong love for babies for as long as I can remember. I’m patient, caring, and attentive, which helps me connect easily with kids and make them feel safe and comfortable. Working with children is something that comes naturally to me and is the reason I chose to pursue a career in pediatric nursing.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Waterbury, CT

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Waterbury Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Waterbury? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Waterbury?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CT? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
