A little bit about me

From the time I was a child myself, I have been involved with childcare in some way. My grandma had a home daycare and some of my earliest memories are practicing my new skill of reading with a baby on my lap.
When I went to college, I wanted to pursue a career working with young children. I started out in early childhood education, but eventually chose social work. Upon graduation, I spent a few years working for a Healthy Families, learning all sorts of fascinating things about early brain development, bonding and attachment, and effective, positive discipline strategies.
When a few of my friends had babies around the same time, I left social work to provide a nanny-share for them. Eventually this grew into a home daycare that I owned and operated for a few years.
Most recently I was nannying for a wonderful family and the little one started just preschool this fall.
Caring for children is more than a job to me; it is a way of being that is marked with respect, trust, and curiosity.
