More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have volunteered with the Boy’s & Girls club in Salt Lake City, UT as well as worked with disadvantaged children when working in politics. My initiative at the time was to canvas and lobby for a woman and children’s shelter in SLC, which came with a great deal of one on one time with disadvantaged youth of all ages. Beyond volunteer opportunities, I have been caring for children off and on since I was 14 years old- varying from date night babysitting to full time daily care of multiple children while mom and dad were at work. In total I have cared for 9 different families. I am experienced with extreme allergies and comfortable administering Epi-pens. I am currently working on getting my first aid/CPR certification and can have that course completed before starting care with your family.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Anything that gets that creativity flowing! I am a hobby artist myself so painting, crafts, coloring, drawing etc are always offered! One of my favorite things to do with kids is scavenger hunts. I have shown up to prior Nanny gigs a few hours early to hide treasures around the neighborhood and then follow a hand drawn map (it’s always a hit). Additionally, not to brag, but my fort building skills are out of this world. I cherish creating fun and engaging spaces to encourage play and imagination. Playing outside is huge! So long as the parents’ safety rules and boundaries are being followed, my goal is to get kids off the screens and into the world (even if that means the world we created in the living room). For older ages, we can go on hikes, stay active outside, or gossip about their classmates over hot chocolate. My goal is provide structured but fun and engaging care to all ages. I did well in school/college so I’m happy to teach reading skills and provide homework help as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a Nanny to me, beyond the most imperative and obvious factor being safety, is ensuring I am a positive impact in that child’s early life and that I leave a warm memory of our time together. Children need consistency and structure with encouragement and cognitive stimulation dappled in. In today’s world, kids never get a break from screens. It is my goal to ditch the screens and revert back to old school imaginative play to build those neural networks and encourage growth, learning, and curiosity. Overall, I want to be a care individual your child looks forward to spending time with and a Nanny that sufficiently provides parents with the help they deserve. We’re lacking a bit on the village aspect of raising children in modern society, so I would like to be a helpful and integral part of your family village.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with non-verbal autistic children when working with disadvantaged families and have cared for children with severe allergies. Closely reading food labels is second nature to me now. I am extremely comfortable working with children with any special needs and I have an active and up-to-date CPR/First-Aid certification.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my absolutely favorite little boys I’ve cared for (ugh I miss him!) was a little 3 year old boy named Ivan. Ivan was a hilarious little character but was really struggling with potty training. His mom was at her wits end. I turned using the potty into a game. We would go into the kitchen and pick out “dunkers” which were little pieces of food like cereal or saltine cracker crumbs and I would have him place the dunkers into the toilet when he needed to pee and then aim to dunk the food bits. He was successfully potty trained within a few weeks and stopped having accidents entirely. His mom joked with me after the job had ended that he still sometimes goes into the kitchen first when he needs to potty. He called me Ms. Cassie and she told me he would get angry at their current nanny for “not being Ms. Cassie” which warmed my heart a million times over. I’ll never forget our time building pirate worlds and tycoon theme parks with toys together!

Hello!
My name is Jade. I’m 28 and originally from Colorado, now living in Oregon for 4 years! I’m passionate about the outdoors, animals, being silly, making friends, and of course working with kiddos. I’ve been working in childcare on and off for almost 10 years. I’ve worked as a preschool teacher as well as a nanny. I’ve taught and worked with children from 6 weeks all the way up to 5th grade! I was a lead twos teacher for 2 years in a Montessori/play based style preschool helping develop and guide curriculum, teach social and emotional skills, and foster relationships through play and communication. I also acted as a float and assistant teacher throughout schools in Colorado and Oregon. Throughout my time working in childcare I have taken several early educational courses to further my knowledge on working with kids. I am also CPR and first aid certified and have my food handler’s license.
