A warm hello to you, and your family! Since I am a mom of two (now adult) children, I have experience with all ages and stages. I am an extremely positive, patient, fun, open minded, respectful, responsible, and hard working person. I have been a small business owner most of my adult life but, my real joy is being with children. I can supply a (wonderful) reference from the family I currently work with (and love). My reason for applying is twofold; the family I am with will out grown me soon, and I wish to move to the Portland area where my daughter lives.
I am happily willing to be a “household assistant “, -to help in anyway that will be supportive to you, along with my nanny duties. I am an exceptional organizer, cleaner and cook. I love children, animals, art, nature, “farm to table” food, books, hiking, and yoga.
I hope you will consider me, because to help support a family during the busy stages of baby to young childhood would be a JOY!
Thank you for your consideration!

I am a 20-year-old female. I currently live in Wyoming, where I grew up in a very small town with less than 2000 people. I am the youngest sibling of 5, they were all much older than me and I grew up around plenty of nieces and nephews. My first language is English. I’m slowly teaching myself ASL. I have been cooking most of my life and I love to do so I can cook plenty of dishes and always up to learning more. In addition to looking after my nieces and nephews, I would babysit cousins and family friends’ children, the kids usually ranged from the ages of 1 to 12. I can change diapers and pull-ups, I have helped with potty training and teaching simple language and maths. When it comes to leisure, I enjoy being outdoors, exploring, going for walks, visiting places I have not been to, and reading a good book. I also enjoy art, swimming, and telling stories. I love to sing and listen to music. I would be happy to answer whatever questions you may have about me or my childcare experiences

I grew up in Laguna Beach, and went to college in OC and LA which is where a lot of my nannying experience comes from. I watched children from the same families for ten years. The main families I babysat for will tell you that I built special relationships with their kids, and always took great care of them. I am a very playful, active person, so hanging out with kids has always been easy for me. I am stern, but flexible and easy going. I miss and love all of the kids I used to work with and still talk to them and their parents.

I know CPR, how to meal prep and cook very well.
My current availability is just on weekend nights.

I speak conversational Spanish, but my first language is English.

Hi! I'm a professional nanny in NW Portland. I love and care for all children, but my specialty is caring for infants under 1. I love giving babies a gentle introduction to the world and supporting them into toddler development- it's so exciting to see them reach a milestone or grasp a new concept. My nanny style entails staying active throughout the day, using respectful communication (even with the youngest children), and maintaining a calm, yet engaging environment. I always do light housework and clean up after children, but I am also experienced in heavier housework, meal prep, and pets if needed. I'm CPR certified, own a reliable car, and have a very flexible schedule.

More about me: I'm from Dallas, Texas- I moved to Portland last summer. I'm near completion of a bachelor's degree in early childhood development. I enjoy being outdoors, arts and crafts, reading, and spending time with my two cats.

Northeast Portland, Portland$15.25/hr  |  2 kids
We're a family of teachers looking for another family with which to nanny share starting in August, 2019. We will primarily be looking for a nanny share for our new baby, approximately four months old in August. Our daughter will be just over two years old, and may need some part-time care if a daycare doesn't cover all hours we are away at work. We're in NE Portland (Cully, near Beaumont/Wilshire, Roseway, etc) looking for another family who need 6:30am-3:30 pm, M-F, some of the hours within this timeframe, or hours that are close to these. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Portland$11.25/hr  |  1 kid
Hi there!

We are looking for another friend or two to join our little guy, W!

Our little guy is currently 7 months old. He has been with Kelly since he was 2.5 months old. We LOVE our nanny, Kelly. She has given us total peace of mind and we trust and respect her.

Right now there is availability Tues-Thurs. Hours are approximately 7:30am to 5:30pm. The share is located in SE. Rate is $10/hr.

Kelly is wonderful! She came with great references. She is very responsive and professional. Kelly is a mother of 3 and a grandmother to two. She’s worked in child care for many years and just gets joy out of spending time with the little ones. She takes our little one outside as often as possible, keeps a daily notebook, and plays well. Our little guy is happy to see her each day!

Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you!

Looking for a loving/caring nanny to watch my 4-year-old daughter and 11-month-old son. Hours need are WED-SAT
The Song Family
& Ashley Drummond
Northeast Portland, Portland$20/hr  |  1 kid
Hi families! We are seeking a family with an infant interested in sharing our nanny with us. Our daughter is almost 7 months old (DOB 10/17) and we would prefer to have another infant close to the same age. We would host and our home is well set up with plenty of room for two infants to play and sleep. We are located in Beaumont-Wilshire.

Hours: Seeking a minimum of 24 hours shared care per week. Our nanny currently works 10am-6pm M-F, but the hours will shift earlier when working goes back to normal.

Rates: $14/hour for shared hours; $20/hour for individual hours when/if needed

About our nanny: Our nanny is very caring, kind, responsible, and loves caring for babies. She specializes in infants and nanny shares and has been working with infants and young toddlers in Portland for the last 7 years. Her caregiving is heavily influenced by the RIE philosophy and a family interested in Montessori style learning and/or RIE would be a good fit.

COVID details: My wife has been going into her office for work (non-medical), but with reduced hours and social distancing on premises. I have been working at home. Otherwise, we have been staying at home except for some walks and minimal grocery store runs (done by me). Our nanny has also been observing social distancing rules outside of work.

How to Find a Babysitter in Portland, OR

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Portland, OR

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Portland can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Portland Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Oregon?
  • Do you have a Oregon driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
