A warm hello to you, and your family! Since I am a mom of two (now adult) children, I have experience with all ages and stages. I am an extremely positive, patient, fun, open minded, respectful, responsible, and hard working person. I have been a small business owner most of my adult life but, my real joy is being with children. I can supply a (wonderful) reference from the family I currently work with (and love). My reason for applying is twofold; the family I am with will out grown me soon, and I wish to move to the Portland area where my daughter lives.
I am happily willing to be a “household assistant “, -to help in anyway that will be supportive to you, along with my nanny duties. I am an exceptional organizer, cleaner and cook. I love children, animals, art, nature, “farm to table” food, books, hiking, and yoga.
I hope you will consider me, because to help support a family during the busy stages of baby to young childhood would be a JOY!
Thank you for your consideration!

Greetings and Salutations! My name is Aurora, and I've been in the education and service industries for over 14 years. I've worked with children of a wide range of ages (newborn through 8th grade), and have extensive experience with toddlers through 6th grade. I've worked multiple years as a Student Aide at a Daycare Center for Professor's Children on the University of Oregon Campus, a Camp Counselor, an Elementary and Middle School Teacher, a one-on-one Tutor, and an After School Teacher; from '07-'16. In 2016, I found new horizons in the restaurant and culinary industry, I graduated from the Oregon Culinary Institute, and can plan, prep, cook, and serve basic to elaborate meals. Although I don't have specific nanny experience, I have informally house kept and babysat for friends and relatives. I have an extensive list of phone numbers and e-mail addresses that I'm happy to provide for references as well.

I grew up in Laguna Beach, and went to college in OC and LA which is where a lot of my nannying experience comes from. I watched children from the same families for ten years. The main families I babysat for will tell you that I built special relationships with their kids, and always took great care of them. I am a very playful, active person, so hanging out with kids has always been easy for me. I am stern, but flexible and easy going. I miss and love all of the kids I used to work with and still talk to them and their parents.

I know CPR, how to meal prep and cook very well.
My current availability is just on weekend nights.

I speak conversational Spanish, but my first language is English.

Hello parents! My name is Ana. I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old. I have had experience in the past babysitting families with children ages 2 months to 10 years. When I babysit I like to do activity's with kids like going to a nearby park, playing games and sports, reading, and helping them with homework or school projects. I love pets! I'm totally comfortable around them. I also don't mind helping with cleaning up, preparing snakes and helping with laundry. If it makes you or your children more comfortable, I am more than happy to do a meet-and-greet before I babysit for you. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you have and amazing day. -Ana

I have been working as a dance teacher during the school year, and a camp counselor in the summer for the past 5 years and I love it! I left at the end of the school year the year before last year to travel in Europe and just returned to the states and am looking to nanny or babysit for a family in Portland. I have been babysitting in my free time since I was a young teenager, and one of my first steady jobs was as a nanny for a baby in 2011. We had a great time together, but his family moved after a year. I hope to find a good fit soon!

& Unknown Nanny
Northeast Portland, Portland$15.25/hr  |  2 kids
We're a family of teachers looking for another family with which to nanny share starting in August, 2019. We will primarily be looking for a nanny share for our new baby, approximately four months old in August. Our daughter will be just over two years old, and may need some part-time care if a daycare doesn't cover all hours we are away at work. We're in NE Portland (Cully, near Beaumont/Wilshire, Roseway, etc) looking for another family who need 6:30am-3:30 pm, M-F, some of the hours within this timeframe, or hours that are close to these. Looking forward to hearing from you!
The Holmes Family
& Kelly M
Portland$10.25/hr  |  1 kid
Hi there!

We are looking for another friend or two to join our little guy, W!

Our little guy is currently 7 months old. He has been with Kelly since he was 2.5 months old. We LOVE our nanny, Kelly. She has given us total peace of mind and we trust and respect her.

Right now there is availability Tues-Thurs. Hours are approximately 7:30am to 5:30pm. The share is located in SE. Rate is $10/hr.

Kelly is wonderful! She came with great references. She is very responsive and professional. Kelly is a mother of 3 and a grandmother to two. She’s worked in child care for many years and just gets joy out of spending time with the little ones. She takes our little one outside as often as possible, keeps a daily notebook, and plays well. Our little guy is happy to see her each day!

Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you!

How to Find a Babysitter in Portland, OR

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Portland, OR

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Portland can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Portland Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Oregon?
  • Do you have a Oregon driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
