More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Over the past few years, I have gained valuable experience in childcare, shaping me into a confident, capable, and compassionate caregiver. For two years, I regularly babysat children aged 2, 5, and 10, where I planned creative activities, prepared meals, managed routines, and maintained a safe and supportive environment. Additionally, I spent a year as a camp counselor, leading full-day camps for children aged 5 to 10 where I emphasized inclusion, teamwork, and high-energy fun within a structured setting. I also built and ran a tutoring business for a year, working with over 25 students in grades 6 through 8. I tailored lessons to each student’s learning style while building their confidence and motivation. Throughout all these experiences, I have worked with children who are energetic, shy, neurodiverse, or needing extra support, and I genuinely enjoy discovering what makes each child unique. My goal in every role is to bring patience, structure, and positivity into each child’s day.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love engaging children in a variety of fun and meaningful activities that inspire creativity, learning, and active play. Whether it’s arts and crafts to spark their imagination, outdoor games to keep them moving, or reading stories to build language skills, I strive to create a joyful environment where kids feel safe and supported. I also love sharing some of my favorite childhood activities, like building little fairy homes, going on nature walks, playing sports, reading The Cat in the Hat, and learning how to braid hair and bracelets. I understand that every family is different, with their own routines, values, and boundaries, so I make it a priority to listen carefully and respect each family’s unique needs when choosing activities. From helping with homework to cooking simple snacks, singing songs, or organizing games, I tailor my approach to fit each child’s interests and personality. My goal is to make every moment enjoyable while fostering growth, confidence, and trust.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, the most important part of being a nanny is creating a space where kids can just be kids—where they feel safe and free to have fun. I genuinely care about seeing children smile, laugh, and explore the world around them with curiosity and joy. It’s not just about supervision; it’s about being someone they trust and feel comfortable with, someone who encourages their imagination and helps them build confidence every day.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve had the privilege of working with children with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other cognitive differences in both sports camp and academic settings. In these roles, I’ve learned the importance of patience, clear communication, and adapting my approach to meet each child’s unique needs. Whether encouraging teamwork on the field or supporting focused learning in the classroom, I prioritize creating a safe, understanding environment where every child feels valued and empowered to succeed.
The most important part about being a nanny...
While I was working at camp, I met several children who were going through difficult situations at home or facing bullying. These kids were often quiet and reserved, and it was clear they carried a lot of weight emotionally. Some of my most treasured moments came from seeing them gradually open up, feel safe, and truly enjoy themselves in a supportive environment. Seeing them genuinely smile always make me choke up, and the notes and cards that they wrote me are still pinned on my wall as a reminder of how much the little moments and a little support can really matter. As a caregiver, I understand how important it is for parents to know their child is not only safe but also genuinely happy and thriving. Being able to create that space of trust and joy means so much to me, and it’s what I strive for in every family I work with.

I just moved here from Tennessee and I’m missing caring for kids! I’ve been out of the nannying game for a bit but I had a few families I babysat for in TN and about 10 years of experience. My number one priority is giving you peace of mind while you’re away, knowing that I will care for your kids like I would my own. Some activities I love to engage in with kids: playing outside, doing outings to the zoo or children’s museum, and preparing meals feels like an easy multitask. I spend time intentionally with children because I really enjoy it. Some of my hobbies include: art, cooking, and coffee. Let’s chat about what your needs are and if we’d be a good fit for each other!
Live-In Full-Time Nanny Available in Portland, OR: Ema D.
Hi! My name’s Ema. Throughout high school, I enrolled in a class where I worked in the Tigard High School daycare as well as at Durham Elementary, where I worked with 3 classes of 1st graders. I was also involved in a group called Everybody Athletics (EBA) where I worked with intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals in all-inclusive workout programs. While I babysat previously to this my love for working with children really began then. I started Nannying as well for the past 3 summers with a 5 and 7 year old. I grew up with 3 sisters and several different kinds of animals ranging from dogs and cats to pigs and snakes! So I developed a very nurturing, caring, and playful personality. It’s also why I’ve been pursuing a career in behavioral therapy specifically targeted towards adolescents. I love working with children and I’m really looking forward to beginning nannying and babysitting again now that I’m back home for summer!
