A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Giovanna (I go by Gia!) and I’ve been a mom for 12 years. I believe childhood is about growth, self development, and understanding the world around you. I’m currently in school with the goal to practice family law and work a remote job, and my free time is spent hanging out with my son or volunteering at an organization that does shopping for those that can’t themselves. I have three cats (Jiji, Phoebe, and Frodo) so I love caring for all animals! Cleaning is a thing I view as a hobby and really love doing, so I’m always up for a side task. I’ve got a degree in multimedia communications and love writing in my spare time and utilize that by making writing/reading a fun thing instead of a homework project!
SCHEDULE INFO - Sunday hours are only applicable every other weekend. Will ALWAYS communicate 24 hours beforehand.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have a 12yo myself but worked in a preschool during high school and an after school program during college. I have also tutored.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I LOVE doing child-led activities. If a kid tells me they like turtles, I instantly think to bring a rock painting kit and we can paint each one for every month of the year. Exploring creativity and expanding imagination is such an important skill and I get so much joy out of being a part of it! I also love just getting out and doing things to get some energy out, and exploring both new and familiar places.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Understanding nuances behind things like body language and interactions. These kids are our next generation and it’s incredibly important that they know that and are treated so that when they’re adults, they feel confident, happy, and eager.

My experience with special needs children...

My brother has cerebral palsy and is intellectually disabled and I was born after him, so I understand the complexities that come with special needs families. I watched my mother care for him and as I became older, I cared for him myself and as a result I am very instinctive about seeing issues ahead of time and knowing what someone needs, as well as understanding the importance of care. Medications and specifics are very important to me and I am very understanding with how important routines and how specific care needs to be. Support is such a vital component during low points and sharing wins is just as much!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Having a child act awkwardly with me and when questioned, “I noticed you’re acting like you’re upset, did you want to talk about it?” be met with “YOUR HAIR IS A DIFFERENT COLOR. CHANGE IT BACK.”

Jordyn T. - Seeking Work in Portland

Part-Time Child Care Provider Available in Portland, OR: Jordyn T.

I’m Jordyn — a calm, intuitive, and deeply nurturing caregiver who shows up with patience, structure, and genuine warmth. I’ve worked in caregiving, DSP support, housekeeping, and childcare, so I’m comfortable balancing emotional needs, daily routines, and household flow all at once. Kids tend to connect with me quickly because I’m grounded, playful, and consistent.

I believe in creating an environment where children feel safe, seen, and encouraged to explore their own little worlds. I’m big on communication, gentle guidance, and keeping things running smoothly so parents can breathe easier. Whether it’s helping with routines, supporting big feelings, or keeping the home tidy and peaceful, I bring reliability, compassion, and a steady presence.

If you’re looking for someone who blends structure with softness, and who genuinely cares about the energy in your home, I’m a great fit.

Hiii, I'm Alex! I'm originally from Austin, Texas but just moved to the Sellwood/Westmoreland neighborhood of Portland from NYC, where I was attending Sarah Lawrence. I'm taking this next year off to reassess my goals and find my true path. I come from a loving family with the sweetest parents, who showed me the importance of kindness and compassion, as well as the importance of being there for others. I'm eager to bring those qualities into my work and provide a safe, caring, supportive environment. I'm just beginning my career in childcare, but I'm excited to learn and grow through the process. Feel free to reach out with any questions! :)
