In High school, I worked as a camp counselor every year with different age groups. I was responsible for cultivating effective relationships with campers, parents and other camp counselors, coordinating and leading group activities for campers, and enforced discipline and policies to protect safety of recreational activity participants. While not necessarily nannying, I believe that all my responsibilities can translate into being a good nanny. As well a being a counselor, I took on more of an individual role as a daycare assistant. I cared for children on a much more personal level, but used the skills I had picked up as a summer camp counselor. There I was responsible for maintaining a safe environment while also enforcing rules to teach good manners. And lastly, I balanced schedules to promote optimal rest, play and educational periods.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important thing about being a nanny is forming a bond with the child/children you are working with. Growing up as an older sister, has given me insight to not only responsibilities, but the importance of making memories and trust that eventually form an unbreakable bond. I may not have much nanny experience, but I have child care experience through the lens of an older sister that wants nothing but the best for her family!
