I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to au pair in Spain at the beginning of this year. My main role was to speak English with the kids so they could learn the language. My second week, the family had a huge family barbecue and their three year old girl Aria wanted to race with me. At the start of every race I said “one, two, and three!” while she said the same in Spanish. At about our fourth round, she started saying “one, two, y three!” with me! It was the first English she spoke and everyone was so excited. It was my first of many proud au pair moments with Aria and her little brother Leo.
