A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Mia and I have been in childcare for the pat 4 years. I have worked with a number of different ages from 4 months to 11 years and cared for up to three kids. There is really nothing I am not up for. Light house keeping, meal preps, after school activities, etc. are all things I have done/ currently do with each job.

I am a social girl who loves to create relationships with everyone around me, really getting to know them. I think it is extremely important to have a familiarity and comfortability between the child, parent, and caregiver. This creates the best possible scenario for everyone involved.

I am currently a senior in college, earning my degree in Integrated Media and Strategic Communications. I am planning on completing my last semester online and moving to the city.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have cared for multiple children at a time, ranging in ages. This caused me to multi-task, stay focused and alert, practice active listening and problem solving, and showed me that staying calm under pressure is not a problem for me.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time outside. The park, walks, etc. I am also into crafting and enjoy activities like painting, beadwork, air dry clay, origami etc. I also think the library is a great place to for children, and a lot of times there are different activities there rather than just reading.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important thing, which can be challenging at first, is creating a safe and comfortable environment/relationship with the child. Of course we are starting off as strangers, but being able to get to know each other and understand each other's personalities is so important. This allows for trust on both ends, as well as a well rounded nurturing environment.

My experience with special needs children...

Currently, I am working as a Community Service Worker. With this, I spend the after school hours with an 11 year old boy who has autism and ADHD. I manage his medications and also help him navigate any problems/situations that come up with him personally or with friends.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was nannying this little girl for about a year, and still babysit her on occasion. My favorite thing about nannying her was that I got to watch her grow and really come into herself. Seeing her personality develop, the words she was learning, and all her new likes/dislikes was exciting for me. I really feel that we have a strong bond and getting to continue to care for her randomly is always so fun for me.
