Activities I enjoy doing with children...
As an artist I am biased when it comes to children's art. I think making art with kids is amazing and can lead to keen detail and creative problem solving skills later on in life.
I am also very into making food with children, reading books, learning new skills alongside them, going to parks and taking walks, going to museums, and generally exploring whatever piques an interest!

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is being flexible and enthusiastic. Every child is unique and every home situation is unique. It's important to be able to adapt and meet the child where they're at. Nurture the things they enjoy and let them blossom in their own ways. Show them you're excited to be there and be present with them through everything.
My experience with special needs children...
In high school, I aided in adaptive physical education classes for a variety of students with special needs. After college, I was a special education aide for a preschooler with apraxia and autism.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nannying moment would probably earning the trust of a 3 year old boy who absolutely hated me for the first 6 months of me nannying him. I was his first nanny after COVID and he was at his first elementary school preschool and he was so overwhelmed and overstimulated. Every day, when I picked him up from school, he would cry and scream the entire walk and then the following 5 hours I was alone with him at home. Eventually, he stopped crying and screaming and proceeded to just ignore me for months. I learned his favorite tv show was about dinosaurs (which I know very little about) and started playing the show and letting him tell me about all of the dinosaurs he saw. Luckily, because I knew so little, this gave him something to feel confident about and eventually he agreed to play dinosaurs with me. It felt good to earn his trust and help him gain a bit of self esteem in the process.
