I have spent four years teaching sailing to students ranging from 5-75. Two of those years were spent living on boats with 12-19 years olds teaching them sailing, leadership, scuba diving, and essential life skills like cooking and cleaning.
I was also the care taker of a 7 year old with medical and learning disabilities as well as his 5 year old sister.

My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for a child with medical disabilities include the use of a feeding tube, nebulizer, and port access. I also have experience working with children with behavioral and learning disabilities including ADHD, dyslexia, and high functioning autism.

I had a student who was struggling with socializing due to his learning disability. We spent a lot of time together working through his emotions to for connections with freinds. He wrote me a card asking if I could be his big sister so I would always be with him for advice.
