A little bit about us

We are new to Chicago and looking for an experienced nanny for our two sons. One of our children is a very cheerful toddler turning 3 years old in March. Our other child is a laid back infant born in December. We are looking for full time care and the occasional evening or weekend (optional). We are open to a nanny share, in particular with another toddler, and would be happy to host at our house.

We prefer our nanny to have a driver's license and to be able to help out with light housework or meal prep from time to time. It is important to us that our nanny is CPR certified and that he or she doesn't smoke or vape.

Our preferred start date is late March, but we are flexible. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you will join our little family!

A little bit about us

We have an opening for another family to join our wonderful nanny share! We’re hoping to connect with a family with 1–2 children who are looking for full-time, in-home, affordable childcare, beginning this Fall.

Before joining this group, we honestly had no idea what a “nanny share” was — and it has been such a gift to our family. We’ve been part of this share for nearly six years and absolutely adore our nanny, as well as the other families we’ve had the opportunity to share this experience with. It has been such a special community for our kids and for us.

We’d love to find another family in Edison Park, Norwood Park, Jefferson Park, Union Ridge, or the surrounding areas who is looking to join our community!

A few details about how the arrangement works:
-Full-time care is provided for both families
-The children spend a few days in our home and a few days in the other home
-Our nanny travels between both homes
-The setup provides the benefits of in-home care while making it more affordable through the share

If you’re interested, please send me a message with a little bit about your family and what you’re looking for. We’d love to connect and see if it could be a good fit! ❤️

Responsibilities include driving them in your own car (gas reimbursement provided), watching them, and playing with them at our home. I will provide all necessary car seats and booster seats. One child will need to be picked up from school at 3:45 pm, followed by picking up the second child from daycare. Care is needed until 5:30 to 6p.m.

The different types of nanny jobs have different nanny responsibilities. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. However, in general, a nanny is responsible for making sure the children's needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. The primary difference being the number of hours you spend at your nanny job every week. For full-time nannies, there are options for live in nanny positions and live-out positions in Chicago. Live-out positions are more common, but each family has their own set of needs that require different types of care, and live in nanny positions can be exactly what some families want. If you're looking to explore live in nanny positions , it's even more important to create a shared set of expectations around hours, responsibilities, and what is expected of you when you're not on the clock.

How to Interview for a Nanny Job in Chicago, IL

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here is a list of some nanny interview questions to prepare for:

  • What do you think children like best about you?
  • What kind of activities will you do with children this age?
  • How do you handle problems that arise behaviorally and emotionally with kids this age?

Beyond answering questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative.
