A little bit about me

As someone who truly loves working with kids, I feel becoming a nanny might just be the best job for me. I’ve been apart of early childcare practically all my life being raised by my grandmother who owned her own center. As a current early preschool teacher, and having worked with children since I was a child, I’ve gained all the experience and skills needed to provide for your little ones. I am CPR/First Aid certified, don’t mind doing any housework, have a culinary arts degree so meal prep will be a breeze and simply having a nurturing spirit, makes me feel like a good candidate. I hope you’ll take the time to learn more about me and I hope for the chance to get better acquainted! Any questions, comments, or curiosity, please feel free to message me.

A little bit about me

Hello! My names Enyetta and I’m 24 years old!! I love children and recently just had one of my own! I’m the oldest child of 4 and have always loved taking care of babies! I have some school experience majoring in early childhood education. For three years in high school I interned at a daycare which had a nursery as well as toddler room. I also have experience working in daycares with kiddos from the ages of two months-three years old. I am first aid qualified and completely flexible to what you may or may not need! I know how hard it is to leave your baby or trust your baby with someone new, I am very open to doing whatever it is that makes you comfortable! Whatever it is just let me know! My goal is for you to be satisfied with your little ones level of care and I’d like to be the one to do that!! (:

A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Malia.

Working with children is my passion! In fact, I am currently attending LeTourneau University for this sole purpose of being able to work with children in the Counseling field for the rest of my life.

Growing up in a family of five children from various parts of the world (we're all adopted from Haiti, South Korea, Pakistan, and USA), I have to say that I got my love from babysitting from that experience. I am the oldest and therefore was the one who would be doing babysitting whenever my parents needed to step out of the house.

During all of these big sister baby sitting sessions, I also worked for this big family of 8, where some of their children were also adopted for 2 whole years.

Their children ranged from twins of 14 years old, to a 10 year old boy, to a 7 year old, twin 3 year old girls (not biologically - but the same age), and 1 year old boy. Needless to say, I had my hand happily full with the Kenisons!
Loved working for them.

I have also worked for this school, Living Waters Christian School, for a year. I was a preschool teacher there. I did duties ranging from teaching alphabets, to simple math, to potty training, and taking care of new born in the nursery. ALSO LOVED that job! Those babies were super adorable.

Why am I not still working for those places anymore? Sadly (but also excitingly due to what is happening right now) I've moved since then. As stated previously, I am attending LeTourneau University where I strive to get a Master's in Counseling Psychology so that I can then concentrate my studying to my first love, Children!

I wish to be a counselor for children and their parents. Navigating those few precious years of a child's life is crucial for a wholesome and complete adult individual who will make positive impact in this world. Sometimes parents find themselves at lost as the wake up one morning to a completely different "child" then the one that went to bed.

Some lose hope and allow those trying...

How to Find a Babysitter in Houston, TX

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, a dedicated hiring agent, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Houston, TX

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Houston can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Houston Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Texas?
  • Do you have a Texas driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
