A little bit about me

My name is Kyla Spencer, and I’m a dedicated, energetic, and compassionate childcare professional based in Lima, Ohio, currently looking to relocate. With years of hands-on experience caring for children from infancy through their early teens, I’m excited about the opportunity to support your family. I pride myself on being hardworking and proactive. I was honored as the first female All-American at my school—an achievement that reflects my drive and leadership. I’ve cared for children from 3 months to 14 years and held roles ranging from nanny to nanny/house manager, balancing childcare with household tasks. Growing up in a foster family gave me early experience managing multiple children’s needs and creating a calm, structured space. I’m certified in infant and adult CPR, First Aid, and AED, and I have a clean driving record with a reliable vehicle. I would love the opportunity to bring my experience, energy, and care into your home and become a trusted part of your family’s team.

"I am actually Kyla's school counselor and have had the privilege of getting to know Kyla over the last couple of years. Kyla has assisted with many soccer camps for a variety of ages and is also a referee for many soccer games as well. Kyla has had many interactions with my own children, all of which have been very positive."

"Eudora took care of both of my girls as infants and has continued to babysit as we need her. My girls LOVE her. She has a particular gift with the babies and my girls (who are now 6 and 3) still ask for her to come every time we need someone. She is very caring and disciplined about keeping them on a schedule. She is good at communicating to us as well."

A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Laura.
I am 58 years old, momma to eight wonderful grown children and two sweet grandbabies!
I have worked with a few families since 2018 (children ranging from 3 years of age through 26 years of age (all on the Autism spectrum). I have no formal special needs training, but have really enjoyed this line of work. References available upon request.
I would like to make myself available 3-4 days a week, between 25 and 32 hours.
With my experience and reliability, my compensation would range between $18.50-25 per hour.
I can be available on evenings and weekends with enough notice... and even holidays. I am working very part time for one of the Nanny Lane families at this time (a few evenings per week), but I do have other time slots available.
I am happy to help with light housekeeping, laundry and meal prep.

Thank you for your kind consideration.
I look forward to meeting you soon!

"I highly recommend Lydia as a babysitter or nanny! She studied and practiced childcare in Austria for several years, and it is clear that she is highly qualified in the field. She is wonderful with children—my kids (1 and 4.5 years old) both love her to pieces. She is attentive, playful, skilled at setting boundaries, and tends to the needs of parents and children alike. She is also a great cook, keeps spaces tidy, and is able to come up with creative ideas to bring people together. How to Find a Babysitter in Houston, TX

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, a dedicated hiring agent, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Houston, TX

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Houston can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Houston Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Texas?
  • Do you have a Texas driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
