Being a nanny brings such joy to my life and inspires me. I love growing with families and their children. Its truly an amazing gift to be apart of there lives as they grow. I love how each family experience has helped me grow as a person and also taught me things that you cant learn in college. I thank all the children for that gift. Im proud of my hands on experience, you will often find me on the floor playing with children. I love to read and do character voices. Im a hard worker who is creative. I work well with family schedules and organization. Im looking for a family that does not put high demands on housework. I feel my time is better spend teaching the child(ren). Though I'm happy to help out with little things of course. I Live and breath all things kids even when im not working. My position is ending with my current family. It will be hard to say goodbye, (feels like i just held them as babies and now they are starting school) im excitted to meet and grow with a new family.

I grew up with a younger brother who I took care of every summer until I moved away...taking care of him while my parents worked was my first round of experience in babysitting! I took a babysitting certification course while I was in high school where I learned basic safety involving children and infants. In the last year of my undergrad at SUNY Potsdam, I worked at the North Country Migrant Education Center on my campus where I not only got to work directly with kids a lot, (generally pre-school aged) but I built their curriculums for school and for fun activities. I read books and made SO many play-dough structures! Although I don't have much professional nanny experience, I have nannied for family members and close friends many times and am an extremely caring and fast-learning person. I know this isn't totally related, but I recently got two kittens of my own and I am so passionate about raising them and nurturing them that my friends make fun of me because I read so many books and articles and treat them like they're human children. I like to have fun and I LOVE coloring, but I also love helping with homework and reading skills with kids. This is also not totally related, but I have a bachelors degree in communications with a GPA of 3.65 and am working now towards my masters of arts at SU in audio arts. I know many things about babysitting and kids, but anything I don't know, I would take the time and effort to learn because I'm a passionate and caring person.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Syracuse, OH?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

How can I ensure I have a great relationship with my nanny?

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. This includes outlining vacation days, a protocol for sick days, and everything else you would want your own employer to cover. From here, spend time getting to know them. Take your nanny out one of Syracuse’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
