More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am an infant/toddler teacher who has been playing, nurturing, and caring for children for the past decade. I began babysitting a toddler (who I had met as a 'mother's helper' when I was eleven) in 2013. I babysit for children whose ages ranged from six weeks to nine years for the next seven years. I began working in licensed childcare centers in 2021! I worked in a center for children 6 weeks to 36 months (all in one classroom!) from summer of 2021 to summer of 2023. I spent the fall of 2023 nannying for two 4 year olds.
I am currently a substitute teacher in infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms. I help manage time and maintain schedules, prepare meals and supervise mealtimes, read books and play outside, change diapers, clean up messes, and put babies to sleep (in whichever classroom needs a teacher).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to be active and outside! I love going on walks (especially when I'm taking care of babies). Children's literature and the building blocks of literacy are especially important to me. I love reading stories out loud, and I believe in the power of children's books!
My experience with special needs children...
In high school, I was a 'life skills mentor' for two years.Served as Life Skills Mentor for kids in Life Skills classroom.
For the first year I worked individually and with small groups on class activities and projects, in the life skills classroom with students who had special needs. (I assisted groups attending performances and assemblies, assisted in the preparation of easy meals, assisted students in navigating grocery stores, grocery lists, and making purchases.)
The second year I was assigned as a classroom mentor with a 1:2 ratio, to assist two students in special education with gen ed electives.

Live-In Full-Time Nanny Available in Portland, OR: Karli H.
I am an 18-year-old from Portland, Or. In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, going on hikes, taking small road trips, and driving to the beach. Meeting new people and getting new experiences. What drives me is helping others; being able to make someone happy is the biggest gift of all. And never settling in life. I would describe myself as adaptive, Observant, and compassionate, among other things. I am the oldest sibling of a single mom, so growing up, I’ve had huge responsibilities in helping raise my siblings. Why I want to be a nanny is because I love the family aspect, and I spend most my free time with others. Building connections and being able to combine those is something I want to be involved in. I like working with kids because each one is unique in their own way. It's fascinating to be around a developing child and help them grow. I've always had a passion for working with kids and being involved in education.
