I enjoy reading books, painting, going on walks, playing tag and my ALL time favorite is baking! I am extremely patient and understand messes can happen but I teach each child about how we care and clean up after ourselves while baking and in general.
My experience with special needs children...
I was a Live in care provider at the boys group Home from Friday night to Sunday morning on weekends. I provided meal time 3 times a day and any snacks in between. I took the boys to any events they had like the special Olympics, any sports practices, school, school related activities and any visits they wanted to make to their family’s I would bring them to. I cared for 3 boys ranging from 16- 18. During Home life I provided them with fun activities, I provided emotional support and helped with calming down the boys when they became combative. I used patience and understanding. Each and every person is different and what makes them feel better is different, so you really learn what triggers and doesn’t trigger each of them and go through the trials and errors together. You become a family and everyone is working to help each other.
