I am experienced with children from the ages of newborn to 16 years of age. I have just recently completed a position which involved a 5 year old girl with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy . I was with the family for 9 months. It was a difficult position, and very tolling on me emotionally and physically. However, once I got used to the routine and I got to know what she liked, it was much more fulfilling and rewarding, it wasn't so much as a job as she was a part of my life. She has a feeding tube that I had to syringe her liquid diet into, and also had a feeding pump that I had to prepare and hook her up to for a feeding. She also had to be fed orally. I would pick her up from school, bring her home and hook her up to the feeding pump. Afterwards I would bring her to parks around the area, including Purgatory Chasm in Sutton, and Treasure Island in Oxford. I brought her to the Eco Tarium as well here in Worcester. I also do housekeeping, and will run errands if needed. I have a valid drivers license, and have a spotless record. I have been trained in CPR, and wouldn't mind at all to renew my certification, it has been a while. I have been doing this type of work for about 18 years now on and off. I am a college student right now, but not one you may have in mind. I am 37 years old and have decided that I wanted to go back to school. I am studying Criminal Justice, Forensic Psychology and Criminology. I find that getting an education to educate and empower our children is highly important. I am working on my Bachelor's Degree and want to work for the crime scene unit. I am willing to do an Au Pair position (live-in) or babysitting (live-out) of your home. I am also willing to do just a housekeeping or pet care if you'd like. I am married to a retired Corrections Officer. Please do not let that hinder your hiring me. A lot of people think that by being married, it changes everything. I have done a live in Au Pair position in New York 2 1/2 hours away and only saw each other over the weekend. We are accustomed to being apart already. I had my own house cleaning business back in 1996 to 1999, I also wash and detail vehicles. I am willing to look after up to 4 children at a time. The most I have had was a set of three year old twin girls. I am a responsible and reliable person who has a great sense of humor. I am laid back, open minded, caring, thoughtful, have a lot of common-sense. I'm practical, original, fun, and out-going. I can think on my feet and am very quick to attend situations that need quick thinking and response. People tend to tell me that I have a great repore with their children. Maybe because it's easy for me to get down to their level and know what makes them laugh and have fun. I guess because I not only have been around so many, but maybe due to the fact that I too was once a kid, I don't know. My husband has two children, ages 12 (boy) and 13 (girl), so I also see what they're up to as well; for the older kids that I have babysat for. Things that I would do: Museums (science and sea), bowling, beaches, parks, playgrounds, make your own craft stores, sports fields, farms, zoos, they have trampolines, arcades, learning, and do it yourself stores everywhere you look. Of course I would do as the parents told me, if they have a set schedule, I have no problems with that. Routine is great! I always uphold the law of parents, they are the boss, and what says goes. I have many teaching and discipline ways, but, I do not do anything unless instructed by the parent...period. In closing, I also love to watch and play sports. I am a local, so I do route for the home team. I'm a wicked big Boston sports fan, Yankee fans need not apply, (I'm kidding) : - ) I did my last Au Pair job in New York. I do hope that you will take the time to read and ask any question that you may have. I am always open and honest with everyone. I am looking forward to meeting you, hopefully you will think that I could be a great addition to your family. Take care and have fun!
