Hi, I’m Taylor! I currently work at a licensed child care center in Prince Frederick and am looking to explore my options as a nanny. I am licensed in taking care of Preschoolers, ages 2-4. I love helping children grow and learn and being able to teach them new skills.

I began babysitting at the age of 13 and babysat throughout high school for all ages. I studied early childhood development for a year at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. I then met my now husband and was married the next year. During college and my first year of marriage, I worked for 2 daycares. I worked at one for just over a year. During that time I worked my way into becoming an assistant teacher in the infant classroom, which was newborn babies 6 weeks of age to a year old. I took a position because it was a better paying position and a highly recommended pre-school. While at the School, I work as an assistant teacher in their infant room as well. After a few months, my husband and I made a move to Michigan and could not find work. We then moved to Frisco, TX where I transitioned into the nanny field. My first position was with a family of two girls, ages 2 and 4. I worked for them for a set contract of 9 months and it was a wonderful experience as they will also tell you. I then worked for an incredible family of 5 children for a little over a year. This too was an amazing position. The children ages were 2, 4, 6, 10 and 12 when I began with them. The oldest of the children had down syndrome and was absolutely a blessing to work with. I left this family only because the mother was let go from her job without notice. This family is also more than willing to share the great experience:) Up until November of this year, I worked for another family with one daughter who was 19 months old when I started the job. As with the rest, this was a great experience and a great family. The family I currently work for in Virginia has a 3 year old girl. I have been working with them since January of 2011(almost two years). This has been one of my most wonderful nanny experiences yet. The only reason I am having to searching for a new position, is that my husband and I are moving to the Mechanicsville area of Maryland at the end of January, and the commute is just too far. Needless to say, God has blessed me with the chance to work with some great families and I still keep in touch to see how the kids are doing:) I love working with children, and have a true passion for working with infants:)It is a big deal when I find a new family, that they meet both myself, my husband, and our new baby boy, as we are very close:) It is also a must to let anyone inquiring know, that I and my husband are both strong Christians who love the Lord:)

I’m a college student and very easy going and have been with younger children most of my life because my mother had her own daycare and cared for children. I was her main helper caring for the kids assisting her so I understand the care and patience needed for all children.

I have been employed for the past two years as a nanny for a four-year-old little girl, as well as her twelve-year-old sister. In that time I have served as house manager as well. I have also spent two summers working at a sleepaway summer camp, caring for children ages 6 through 15. During the day I worked in the 22-horse stable, and I (along with one co-counselor) managed a cabin of up to 20 teenage girls at a time. Prior to this I nannied for a family with an infant son and two-year-old daughter - this job was temporary, as the family now lives in India. I also worked in small Christian daycare for about a year, teaching and caring for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. In addition to this I have been a lead Sunday School (preschool) teacher at my church for the past three years, and have played a large part in the growth of our children's church ministry - helping to plan and execute events such as Vacation Bible School, KidStuff, and regular Sunday School.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Mechanicsville, MD

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Mechanicsville Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Mechanicsville? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Mechanicsville?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in MD? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
