A little bit about me
I am a therapist currently finishing up my doctoral degree in clinical psychology. I have worked with kids of all ages therapeutically, as a tutor, and as a babysitter. I have training in attachment research and have experience studying play, development, and improving the caregiver/child relationship. I also have an MA in English from Columbia so I can help with summer academic support for older kids. I live in Brooklyn and I’m flexible on hours and location. My approach with children of any age is playful, warm, curious, and sensitive. I also have a backbone and can be firm and calm in hard situations. I really love kids and understanding their feelings and behaviors. I also am a good communicator and know how important it is to develop trust with the nanny you hire. I am confident about being able to build a good connection with you and your child. I hope to hear from you soon!
Warmly,
Rose Howell

A little bit about me
I am a Nanny/Sitter born and raised in Brooklyn with 8 years of experience taking care of kids 5 months to 12 years old. Over the course of those years I’ve met and worked with amazing families. I am outgoing, punctual, respectful, kind, reliable, & very patient. I love kids & being able to help families as much as I can. I enjoy organizing fun & educational activities to do as well as arts & crafts. I love baking, cooking new recipes & picnics at the park especially when the weather’s nice. I can help with any house keeping, running errands, school drop offs and pick up, meal preparations and homework help/supervision. My availability is very flexible. Im open to working with a schedule that works best for you. Im a great communicator & hope to meet a family that values the importance of communication as well. I am CPR/First aid certified, can undergo a background check and provide references if needed!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Brooklyn, NY
Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.
Brooklyn Nanny Interviews
Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:
- Do you have experience being a nanny?
- How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
- What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
- Are you open to a live in arrangement in Brooklyn? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
- Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
- Do you have any references?
- Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Brooklyn?
- Do you have a driver’s license in NY? Do you own a car?
- What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
- What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?
During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny
Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
