A little bit about me

Hello - I'm wondering if there's a little one (infant to pre-school age) near my house in Battle Ground, who needs some TLC a few to several hours a week in my home. I have worked with children and families in a variety of roles for around 20 years, babysitting/nannying, violin teaching, preschool caregiving (home-based and formal day care center), and I was a social worker with at-risk families.

My husband is also great with children, helping with supervision, education, protection, nurturing, and age-appropriate activities. We both have a quiet, calming nature that is comforting to little ones. My husband works from home, so while he would be generally focused on our small business, he would be at least somewhat involved.

Our home dynamic is calm, quiet, clean, and orderly. We do not have pets but enjoy feeding hummingbirds & chickadees from our porch and deck.

We're interested to have a special little one in our lives, like we have enjoyed in prior years.

A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Hailey-Jade, I am a college student at Washington State University in Pullman. I am 19 years old, so currently a sophomore and am double majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I have two years of paid experience as a babysitter and am working on my first aid and cpr certification to sweeten the deal! I grew up with 4 siblings, and as the second oldest, the responsibility of babysitting often fell on me, siblings were from the ages of 8-15. My junior year of highschool is when I got my first hourly paid job as a flexible babysitter for a 3 year old boy and 5 year old girl. This job lasted until I moved for college. I also tutored freshman, sophomore and juniors in math during my junior and senior years of highschool. I am now in search of a full time job as a summer nanny, as I come back home from college. My goal is to foster a safe and active environment for children of all ages and accessibilities. I don't mind a bit of cleaning and cooking either :)

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Battle Ground, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Battle Ground Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Battle Ground? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Battle Ground?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help
