I Love Love Love being a Nanny! I most recently was a Personal Nanny for a wonderful family - I cared for a boy from the time he was 9 months old to 5 years old and he recently began kindergarten. I also cared for his sister from the time she was 2 years old to 7 years old and she recently began 2nd grade, and I cared for their 7 months old temporary foster child for a few months. My duties included caring for the children from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM 4 days per week. Care included being there when they would awaken for the day, preparing meals, bathing and personal care, transporting them to and from school, and providing educational and fun experiences. Activities we enjoyed included: Visiting the library for story-time and checked-out books to take home, helped them to learn the alphabet, numbers, colors, beginning mathematics, shapes, etc. Museums and Performing Arts, Various types of Arts & Crafts projects, Baking, Hiking, Swimming, Beaches, Parks, Gyms, and Play dates with children from their pre-school to name a few. Previous to that position I was a Personal Nanny & Household Manager - I cared for 2 middle-school aged children before and after school, and was a personal assistant to their Mother while they were in school.

I have three nephews and one niece, and another on the way. My oldest brother had a son when I was 12 years old and I have had the great opportunity of babysitting him since he was an infant. I have about 11 years of experience. Since then my brothers have had 3 more kids, 1 girl age 4, 1 boy also age 4 and another boy that is now 17 months, almost 14 months. I watch them whenever I have the opportunity and spend a lot of time with them during the week. I have been babysitting for many friends and family over the years. I babysat for a family, the Lium’s, that have three little girls and at the time were between the ages of 9 months and 5 years old. I also helped at an at home daycare. I also worked in the daycare at the gym where I was employed for over a year. I currently babysit on the weekends when I am needed.

I've been babysitting since I was 12 years old. Over the last 17 years I've worked for many years with children ranging in age from 4 weeks old to 15 years old. After high school, I lived in Spokane, WA. I was a nanny for three wonderful children (aged 1 years old, 5 years old, and 7 years old) for 6 months until I moved back home to Mukilteo. 11 years later, I still maintain a close relationship with this family. After moving back I became employed at a popular child care center working with children of all ages for 4 years, while I also completed my Associate's Degree in Music. I was involved as a lead teacher and writing and executing curriculum. After that, I was promoted into management at that child care center for over a year working with children and families as well as the corporation. I then worked at a family dentist office and did private voice and piano lessons for children for a few years.

Through out the last number of years, I have spent a great amount of time volunteering with children in school and daycares as well as continuously babysitting. Growing up, I would spend all my days off at school helping my mother out in her forth grade classes. Because of this, I grew an interest in wanting to become a teacher myself. When I took a class in highschool called Teaching Academy, I did over 300 hours of community service in a few different classrooms, but mostly just first grade. My freshman year in college, I volunteered at a preschool in Pullman twice a week in the toddler room as well as took child development classes to improve my knowledge of children. I spent at least 20 hours in this preschool in a period of two months with children from ages 1 through 4. All of my volunteer work has been greatly enjoyed and rewarding. It also has prepared me more for my future in which ever profession I choose to pursue. Also, in Fall of 2008, I was a part-time nanny for two little girls, ages 4 and 2. Throughout my time there, I would assist in getting the girls snacks, doing art projects, playing outside and watching education videos. On top of this nanny-experience, I have always been a great babysitter when needed for family friends. I have watched kids anywhere from 6 months old to 10 years of age.

I grew up going to a home daycare that provided excellent care for me and my brother and they became like a second family to us. Even at a young age I would help them take care of some of the smaller children. As I reached the age to become a babysitter I took a course on babysitting as well as infant and child CPR through the Red Cross. I nannied two boys ages 5-8 for two summers and really enjoyed that as well. I also have been a volunteer for Big Brothers, Big Sisters for two years. In middle school, high school, and college I have worked as a tutor so that is also a very important skill that I can bring to the job.

Meg U.

Meg is a very fun, loving nanny❤️ She pays full attention to the children and keeps them happy, feeds them, bathes them, dresses them and tucks them into bed at their scheduled time. She also keeps the house clean. We love Meg. - Sandra

Megan K.

Megan is so wonderful with my children. She is patient and gentle and fun. She has watched my children as infants and my older elementary children. She has engaged my son with down syndrome and helped with his behavioral needs as well. She is an incredible young lady whom I would have watch my children any day. - Jen

Kayla B.

Kayla takes charge from the moment she walks in the door. I have three children with a big gap in ages. She takes on each seamlessly. She is sweet and wise beyond her years. Our children absolutely adore her. As an added bonus, she was so helpful with household chores and organizing without me ever having to ask. Kayla moved away and we were all heartbroken. My kids still FaceTime with her! - Aryn

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Mukilteo, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Mukilteo Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Mukilteo? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Mukilteo?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
