A little bit about me

Hello,

My name is Tehya. I’m from Newport, Oregon but recently just relocated to Everett, Washington with my fiancé. I was raised in a very large family setting, having 4 other siblings and me being the 5th. With me being one of the oldest siblings, I had a huge responsibility when it came to watching my younger siblings. I started babysitting my siblings and slowly grew into the position of babysitting for my moms friends/co workers/ and other community members children. Also, the high school that I graduated from had a childcare program that you could take as a credit (which I did.) The class brought on the responsibility of taking care of any children (of all ages) enrolled in the program. Finally, every summer (3 years total) I was asked to help in a six day babysitting camp. These children were also of all ages, and were put in the 6 day program because their parents had an official meeting to attend. I feel confident to say that I am a hardworking, dedicated, responsible, committed worker, and I love helping people and watching children. If given the opportunity I would love to watch your children at any time and become a nanny in your home!
If you would like more information or have any specific questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this!

A little bit about me

Hello! I’m Julie, a 26-year old college graduate with a passion for childcare and education. I have over a decade of childcare experience, including 4 consecutive years of full time nannying. I specialize in care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. I have two years of experience with multiples (from nanny shares). I am CPR certified, have my own safe and reliable car, and have a clean background record. I am punctual, while maintaining flexibility based on your needs. I am dedicated to both providing excellent care for your child, and to ensuring that your lives are made easier by hiring me.

Compassion and imagination drive my childcare style. I have a deep passion for creating safe educational environments for children, setting a foundation in their early childhood that allows them to develop an enthusiasm for learning for the rest of their lives. I emphasize healthy emotional and social development through techniques inspired by early-childhood Waldorf and Montessori philosophies.

I provide opportunities for children to engage in a variety of activities to help them develop physically, mentally, and emotionally. Time spent at home may include reading, music, dancing, puzzles, tactile/sensory play, games, and art. Activities outside the home may include going to playgrounds, the zoo, the aquarium, nature walks, the science center, the children’s museum, libraries, or any other programs you would like your children to attend.

I am currently searching for a family to join our nanny share. I nanny an active, intelligent, sweet 20-month-old boy. We have been part of a wonderful nanny share for the past year, but one family is transitioning their child into daycare in January. Our ideal match would have a child between 18-30 months, and live in the Magnolia/Queen Anne/Ballard area. Our schedule is 8:30-5:30, M-F. If you do not need 45 hours of care per week, we still would be interested in discussing the hours that you do need. Share rate is $26/hour. My ra...

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Seattle, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Seattle Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Seattle? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Seattle?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
