A little bit about me

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please consider this my formal letter of interest in the advertised position as a Nanny with your family. Since 1996, I have enjoyed a privileged career caring for the next generation. I have cared for newborns thru age seven, (twins included), in a variety of different families, always respecting their individual cultures. This has taught me how to meet and exceed each client’s expectations with the ultimate goal of maintaining loyal repeat business as well as referrals.
As a results oriented Nanny, I was able to achieve ongoing success with the children in my care by influencing morale, maintaining self-confidence and training them to respect not only each other but their elders as well.
I am most at home in the child care arena, and am looking to transition in 2017. I can be reached at [phone number hidden] or you may email me at [email hidden]
Respectfully,

Lavern Khinit

A little bit about me

I have personal and professional experience in caring for children. I am a grandmother of two beautiful princesses ages 7 and 3. I've worked for several years caring for a premature baby born at 2 pounds. She is now 10 years old healthy and strong. I take pride in knowing that my caring nature and patience helped her and the family over come many challenges. We are still very close. She is like my very own.

A little bit about me

Dear Family,

I have been taking care of children since I was a child. I am the eldest of two girls and come from a large, very close, family. On one side I am the eldest girl of 20 cousins and have always been responsible for caring for those younger than me.

I have years of childcare experience. When I was 12 I started babysitting and I have continued babysitting, part-time and full-time nanny work since then. I have also worked for four years in an infant nursery at Grace Church as the head of the nursery; during this time I also worked the 2-3 year old nursery.

I taught children ages pre-k through high school English in Paraguay during a volunteer gap year there. While there I also started an after-school program for boys and girls to provide space for children who did not have supervision.

I have worked with youth instruction in language, dance, art and martial arts. I have worked as a lifeguard and am trained in first aid and CPR. I also have experience caring for special needs children.

What all of this adds up to is: I love children. I love working with them and investing in the future of this world.

I recently completed my undergraduate studies at UNC Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Anthropology and Global Studies. I speak multiple languages including Spanish, Arabic, Hindi and French and have traveled extensively (these are experiences I would love to share with the children). After graduation I continued my work as an independent contractor--specializing in branding, social media and marketing--for non-profits. I have spent the past six months as a live-in nanny in the UWS for three children ages: 1.5, 4.5 and 7.5. I love dance, art and absolutely anything and everything outdoors. Right now I am focused on dance and art. I want to continue this track eventually and get my PHD at NYU in the Anthropology of Dance.

I also dance... a lot! I am a competitive ballroom and salsa dancer. NYC is a great place for dance. I love yoga, rock climbing, bikin...

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in New York, NY

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

New York Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in New York? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in New York?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in NY? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility.
