A little bit about us
A little more on the specifics of what we need:
I’m an ICU nurse, so I work long hours. I need someone 2 days a week (24hrs/wk). Here would be a typical week’s schedule: Wednesday 6am-6pm, Thursday 6am-6pm. There will be some weeks where I would need help three days a week. If you are available for occasional help for a few hours on the weekends, that would also be great (but it is optional). My work days vary week to week, but I can try to request certain days of the week to best accommodate the nanny’s preference (while it isn’t guaranteed, our schedules are posted months in advance so there will be plenty of notice and I can try to switch days around to meet the nanny’s needs).
I am open to having two caregivers: one for the weekends, and one for the weekdays. Reach out if you are interested in either! Or both!
This is a kind, patient, loving home; we are looking for the nanny to match!
NOTE: We have a house with a lot of stairs and have a 40lb dog that will likely insist on being snuggled by you; do not apply if you have an aversion to either. 😉

We are looking for other like-minded couples with similar locations and schedules to nanny share with.
Location: East Bay (South Berkeley / Oakland / Piedmont / Lamorinda)
Times: 8-6 (-ish)
Starting: March or April, 2022
About us: we are both in tech and work in the city - Danny in research, Katherine in healthcare. We trend towards being over educated but also have a lot of fun - we love cooking and hiking in the beautiful hills of the East Bay. We're both native west coasters (Oregon and Berkeley) with a long stop over for both of us in Chicago. Our first son, Charlie is 18 months and part of another very successful nanny share, and we're hoping to recreate some of the magic in that partnership with a new family.

A little bit about us
About us: The moms in the families have been close friends for friends since high school (over 20 years now). Our families have a stable, no drama friendship. One family had a daughter in September and the other family had a daughter in December, so the babies will be 6 months old and 3 months old when we start working with the nanny.
What we need:
A loving, warm, caring person to take care of our baby girls. Enthusiastic about playing with them and interacting with them.
Someone who can communicate in English
Up to date on vaccinations, including covid
CPR trained
Trustline certified
Experienced
If you have a car, you have a clean driving record
Great references
Preferences:
If you speak Hindi or Russian, that's a huge plus since one of our families has a Russian mom and an Indian dad.
You're willing to learn baby sign language (or know it already!)
You have your own car
If you think you would be a good fit, please reach out to me, I'd love to talk to you!

Mornings and evenings tend to have the most to do as our kiddo has very full days both in the summer and the school-year, but we can get creative about when those things can get done.
We are looking to fill about 20 hours per week.
Pick-ups, drop-offs, meal preparation, house clean-up and quality time with the 5-year old are all part of the package.
Thanks!
Chris

How to Find an Infant Care Job in Berkeley, CA
If you’re looking for an infant nanny job, you’ve come to the right place! We can help you find an infant care job in your area. Start by telling families about yourself in your profile, and then chat with families to find the right fit. When you think you’ve found the right match, you can turn the discussion towards compensation and responsibilities.
What is an Infant Nanny in Berkeley, CA
An infant nanny is a nanny that specializes in caring for newborns. They are skilled in diapering and providing care for any rashes, swaddling, bathing, feeding, and burping. Some infant nannies further specialize in care for premature newborns or multiples.
Preparing for a Nanny Interview for an Infant Care Position
Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is an infant nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:
- What is your specific experience with this age group?
- Are you Infant CPR/First Aid certified in Berkeley, CA? Are you willing to be trained?
- How do you handle a crying baby?
- How often do you usually offer parents updates during the day?
- What do you feed an infant? At 0-3 months? 3-6 months? 6-9 months? 9-12 months?
- How do you set up the infant’s crib for a nap?
- What kind of activities will you plan to engage my baby?
You should be prepared with your references for past nanny jobs, and ideally, past infant jobs. Prior to the infant nanny interview, be sure to think about questions that you might have for the family. This is a great time to ask questions about the responsibilities and compensation for the infant nanny position. To make sure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities, we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
